335 some issues

Guys, I’ve just bought a 335 hard top convertible. I am pretty happy with the engine performance, however not so impressed with the squeaky sound it makes. After first month I could identify two very distinct noises
a)On sharp left bends, it made a knocking sound from under the dashboard (extreme left)
b)It made a mix of squeaky and knocking sound from the right side of the driver seat constantly
I went to PML to get it fixed they managed to solve the knocking sound under the dash board, however they could not solve the constant irritating noise that comes from the right of the drivers seat. In fact when I got the car back my right door sounds like I have used the car for over few years and the constant irritating sound from the right has intensified.
I also noted that the car, in general is very noisy even on slight uneven roads. I sat in my friends Suzuki hatchback, it seemed quieter than my 335.
Anyone facing a similar problem?
Cheers

Don't have such a problem leh. The only squeaks I get are from the hard top joint and thats normal for a cabrio. Just gotta live with it. Your problems sound --- not so acceptable though

Re: 335 some issues

I have a creaking sound from near the right side of the driver's seat as well. Haven't been able to isolate it but am planning to get PML to take a look at it.

Funny thing is I tried pressing all over the cushion but couldn't replicate the sound. But once I drive off the creaking starts.

Oh god, if BMW is anything like Mercedes Benz, they'll take 1 model generation to sort out hardtop issues.

My own experience with the SG distributor workshops for BMW, Merc and VW is that once they open up something (e.g. interior door panel, or dashboard) to troubleshoot, it will come back to you with even more squeaks.

When I resprayed my previous car, the car came back squeaking over humps (never before in its 6 years life before that!). Root cause analysis by the AD workshop took too long and they later even said nothing is wrong. So I brought the car to a third-party workshop in Sin Ming specializing in the same brand and problem was resolved. The fcukers in the AD workshop did not put back ALL the retaining pins for the interior door panels. Thus slight deformation of the chassis over humps will result in rubbing panels with metal door frame and thus, squeaks.

Noisy on uneven roads? What car did you previously drive?
Once you are on profile 40-50 tyres for such cars, with harder suspensions, you cannot hope to compare against a Suzuki! Even the sportier Japanese models give a harsh / noisy ride on uneven roads - e.g. the CTR, IS2xx, Evo etc.

Re: 335 some issues

I used to drive BMW 520 before, on the same roads my 520 was way quieter. The first time i took it to PML they kept the car for 5 days and not sure what they investigated/opened. One thing for sure my car is nosier after that and my right door shuts with a funny noise

Re: 335 some issues

Yeah, I tried that too. It starts after you start driving and it can be really annoying as its there all the time. Initially I thought it was the window, but I tink it comes from the top part of the seat/bealt

If you were driving the E60 or E39 520i, stock 16" rims came with profile-55 tyres. These are thus more 'comfy' thicker tyres, thus much quieter.

I guess your 335i Cabrio is now down to 40-45 profile?
No compare lah.

Rattles from the top joint of seat belt is very common in German marques - BMW, Merc and VW (I have owned all 3 to say this).

You want a squeakless, rattle-free car, then get a Lexus. Owned that too.
