335 to M3

I believe maintenance of a M3 will be much much lower than 335 due to the 5 yr parts and service by Munich.

I can forsees I will spend more $$$ once the car gets >4 yrs old.......so switching to a used-M3 about 2yrs+ could be a good move.

Let put 'upgrade' portion aside, advice needed for drivibility of a M3 if ones switches from 335 Jb4 to M3 for day-to-day driving ?

Some bros have switched to M3 so your advice is greatly appreciated :)

A short test-drive session will not help much but rather get opinion from bro here :)

I am not a tracky :)

Any maintenance of a M3 will burst a hole in my pocket if I am not awared of (1-5Yr)?

Happy CNY to you and your family.

Re: 335 to M3

Serious question...I think the Road tax is much higher compared to insurance for people with 50% NCD.. Main cost is still the yearly depreciation.

Re: 335 to M3

i think is main difference is the price bah.. Road tax is only extra $800 per six months.

Re: 335 to M3

Somehow, I cannot believe that the maintenance costs of an M3 will be lower than a 335.

Re: 335 to M3

hey doc... been a long time since we last heard from you...

from what i've read in the mags, the maintenance of the M3 is much higher than than the 335.

for example, routine maintenance includes checking and adjusting valve clearance (besides the usual changing of fluids, etc.)

have a chat with kenntona. he was contemplating switching from pariah to pedigree... but is now driving a hearse...

I saw that hearse... a pretty fast hearse too!

Re: 335 to M3

and the cost of fluids will be more than the 335 - IL6 3L vs V8 4L.

but almost all M3 owners will tell you that the joy of driving a pedigree will more than outweigh the costs...

but 335 got a lot of problem like fuel pump...

sweeping statement.

not true - it's the luck of the draw...

do a comparison with the number of 335s on the road with the number experiencing HPFP problems and you'll see what i mean...

from a number of posts in this forum regarding issues and problems, will it be right to also say that all BMWs are problematic?

you get the drift...

Re: 335 to M3

Should have posted this in motoring life section.... At least can earn post count.....

Mw, hitmee, kenn, c3po, milk all agree... Pls thank me.

M3's torque will loose to a jb4 335.... Having said that... M3 is not a slug, just that engine is a bit more rev happy.

Btw, 5 year free maintenance at MA does not mean free oil every 5000km or whenever you feel like changing fluids.... But if you follow the prescribed oil change schedule, then its free.
