335

Hi all i've been considering a 2007 335 cabrio, went to take a test drive today and noticed that theres a LOT of rattling and squeaks from the roof when driving over any uneven surface.

Sounds a lot like metal pieces rubbing together in a myriad of places where the roof joints are. Noise all goes away when the top is down and neatly folded away so i'm pretty sure its the roof esp. the sides.

The sales guy says all cabrios are like that and is unavoidable(I also know he wanna close the sale) anyone know if this is true or is there a way to silence all that noise ? Thanks to all the bros here in advance !

Regards
Calvin

IMHO - Soft top yes ..... quite normal. Hard top dunno.

May I suggest you take it for an inspection..but state very clearly it doesn't mean you want to buy it if reviews turns out good after the inspection. When I say inspection, not just STA or vicom but maybe some of our site sponsors here. I went to BVO n looked for Bernard.

Good luck! And roofless rocks!

Re: 335

It's probably not normal.. Mine is 3 years and 9 months. And usually park without shelter. But I do have slight rain water leaking into the cabin from the front of the front windows.

Re: 335

Re: 335

I have a 2007 335i Cab as well. When I first bought the car 6 months ago, it had creaking noises, which were not consistent (ie sometimes have sometimes don't have). I used the OWS Body Flex gel on the rubber parts of the roof and most of the noise is gone.

Now I only get an occassional creak once in a while. So in my case, 99.999% of the noises were actually from the rubber seals.

Yeah, open top cars are never going to be as creak free as hardtops.... but the E93 can be considered relatively creak free - compared to my prev 2 open cars !

Even E92 have some sounds ... but with the radio or music on you cannot even hear it ....

Unless driving on F1 roads .... and cruising speed but if you drag hard ... this is unpreventable ...

Re: 335

Expect creaks and noises - there are 700 parts in that hard top mechanism.......

I had a 2008 E93 335i cab. it has creaks since first week i collected the car. i send in my car 4 times for warranty claim. According to PML even the german try to solve it. But the sound is still there no matter what they do. But after a while i got use to the noise. I just blast my logic 7 loud loud or open the roof to hear the 6 inline exhaust sound hahah

It a nice ride bro
