50k servicing

Folks,
I'm going for my 50k servicing next week. Anyone has any advice?
1. What to take note?
2. What to insist PML do and not do?
3. How to save money? Other than bring my own engine oil.
4. What to avoid? I believe PMl always use scare tactics, so I expect them to want me to change parts/do unnecessary checks etc.

I welcome other advice if you have.

Tks.

Hi Koh,

Bring your own engine oil is good........as for the check (some owner think is worth it some dun) so its really up to you....they maybe able to check for parts that could potentially be a faulty part soon..........so check how much then decide lor........

i am sure you wont want the potential faulty part to give-way then must tow here / tow there (time spend, etc etc...stressed).

* things to avoid when you are there (don't test drive a new variant while waiting)
happy servicing
cheers

Re: 50k servicing

Initially I thought by going for it might be useful because faults can be spotted and then parts changed under warranty. No?

I was almost going for it man. I think it cost something like S$150+.

For our cars, there tend to have more parts to be changed due to faulty components etc. To date I have claimed warranty for engine oil leak, engine oil indicator faulty, engine oil gasket change. (these happened only after 3hours of convincing them it was faulty!). They agreed front suspension faulty and will replace but I don't know if they will change complete set. DP you have experience on this suspension change?

How about squeaky noise when moving in and out of our car (especially after rain)? PML gave me a standard reply "it's like that one". Anyone successfully claimed warranty for this fault? :)

Hi Koh,

if under warranty sure can do for free...........my XL headlamp also faulty so they change a pair of brand new XL for me....

Squeaky sound kind of tough to claim......as i dun think the warranty covers those squeaky sound cause all this is quite SOP as the car age i am pretty sure, sure got some sound here and there unless is some parts is faulty that created the sound/noise.

cheers

Re: 50k servicing

i have been asked for the 99 points check too. i don't mind to pay $150 for that. what i worry is they open the bonnet ... see see look look, touch here touch there and then say everything is good. will pml give a full verification report of all the points/items that they checked and verified physically and electronically ?

the reason i have this evil thought is there are so many cases that when we report a problem, they said they have checked and tested no problem is found. then you experience the problem and go bang table. after 2 times or worst case x times then they change something, problem is resolved.

anyway, please share if you take up the check. thanks !

Re: 50k servicing

Woah, CF parts! Power!

Anyone else with 50k servicing / warranty claim experience and advice? Pls share.

Re: 50k servicing

1. tell them don't topup wiper fluid... even if yours is full, they'll still charge you for it as a SOP.

2. don't change any major parts before consulting you. you can then wanna check with the sponsor workshops and see if they can fix it at a much cheaper cost. (there's a 99.9% chance they can do it more cheaply)

Re: 50k servicing

less standard oil change and filter, get them to call you for other change. there are many strange strange things that they can change. beware and be aware

Re: 50k servicing

hi bro,

I did mine a while back, they just charge for oil change & sparkies.
All in under 250 +/-. 50K no worriesl.

Its the 60K that I am worried about.

cheers

Re: 50k servicing

Any advantage if I bring my own spark plus? I'm hoping to spend lesser and able to use better spark plugs. Just a thought.

What kind of damage are we looking at for the 60k servicing?

Re: 50k servicing

What is your service interval change? If its 25,000km-beware. If its 12,000km-make sure you change for external leaks at the around the engine. Replacing gaskets after the warranty period is very expensive.
