520i G30 ECU Tuning

Hi Bros,

My apologies if this may have been asked before but i couldn't find anything on it.

Is there tuning available on the ECU that does not void the warranty on a PML unit?

Or something that we can revert back on the fly when sending it in to PML for servicing?

I sat on a friends 530i and notice the significant pull as compared to my 520i and thus would be keen to tune-up the potential of my ride.

Your inputs are much appreciated!

Cheers
D

You're prob looking for a piggy back tune like JB4 or Racechip. Anything else can be detected by PML if they dig deep enough.

Basically you're not going to get the performance of a 530i from a piggyback chip whilst under warranty. If you don't care too much about that look to go stage 2 tune (approx $1200) with a catted high flow downpipe(approx 1600), front mounted intercooler(Approx 1600) and a full cat back exhaust (approx 3500) plus intake (depending) to match.

Thanks Bud. Thus having something like the Racechip in there would deem it 'untraceable'?

And i reckon it would need to be removed before each servicing?

Neither save your money get BM3 you can DiY it. Bigger bang for buck as I only paid 550usd for the license and full map pack. See my thread below for BM3 steps and cable required.

Dont need a workshop to do the flash as there's no dealer only software required and the whole interface was made for everyone basically 1 click to flash, totally idiot proof. There's also a transmission flash thats free included and you can xfer or sell the license on next time as well.

That being said this is a full ecu tune and not a piggyback. But the cost vs hp gain trumps any piggyback.

Its easy to do and each flash takes 30 secs or so. You can also flash back to stock before each servicing thus removing the need to have a workshop tear into your engine time and time again to remove the piggyback unit and reinstall it after each servicing.
