95 vs 98 any different on F10?

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

Why go so cheap with petrol when paid so much $ for a car in SG

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

Should be ok if stock. Regular petrol in Japan and U.S. is 90-92 RON.

If engined is tuned then may chee ba boom ....

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

Doesn't your owner's manual in your iDrive tell you? Look under R -> RON. Mine says recommended is RON98. I fill only V-power (in Singapore).

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

Recommended is 98... Technically speaking jus checking if 92 or 95 is dangerous...

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

F10 520i, recommended is 95. I guess 92 is also okay I guess. I do not remember exact wordings in manual

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

I have switched from SPC 98 to 95 for the past 3 tanks.... I notice the 95 gives me poorer mileage as compare to when I had the 98.

Anyone experience the same?

I pumped a tankful of Esso 92 petrol accidentally recently. No difference. Didn't notice any drop in power on my F10. FC seem to be about the same too.

Actually in my previous cars (non-turbo merc), I found that 95 gave better mileage than 98. However, 98 seemed to give more power.
My friend also confirmed that on his non-turbo car (japanese).
I just got back from China work travel - 95 is their highest grade petrol and they use it for their luxury cars.
US also use 95.
I may try using 95 soon ...

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

For older cars, I think 98 would be the minimum. Must make up for the loss in performance.

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

Some updates on Esso 92: My car's FC actually become better. I just refilled another tank of Esso 92 to verify the results.

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

I do not see noticeable difference of power for 95 and 98, but I am going to switch back to 98 for the next tank see how the FC again.

Re: 95 vs 98 any different on F10?

Felt a small lost of power on my second tank of Esso 92 (compared to Esso 98) during a spirited drive last night. Lower FC performance is consistent.
