AA Report for kind advice

Re: AA Report for kind advice

Report seems to indicate issues with the seatbelt and airbag sensor, could it be due to an accident which caused the airbags to deploy? I'm no expert but a lot of areas seem to point to some kind of accident on the front end? You might want a 2nd opinion especially on the car chassis. Check if the factory stickers are still under the hood, if not usually indicates its been repaired too.

Personally I don't think guarantees from the agent on warranty will do any good, for major repairs on these pricey items they can just get the WS to do patch job and drag for months until you xianz, better just whack a good discount and sort it out yourself. Unless these guys are some super reputable sort?

The 2-years warranty was captured in the sales agreement.

A disclaimer was added that if engine and gearbox have problems and car with major accident from the AAS report, I will pull out of the deal.

Because I am unsure of the severity of the problems from the report, hence did not thought about pulling the plug.

What I told them to do was to rectify those issue in their workshop, give me a black and white of what had been done, and I am good to complete the deal.

Again, Chris, do we need to replace the entire suspension when it is reported that only the dust cover and stopper is torn?

Btw, can you pm me your w/s contact. :)

Thanks.

My E60 SRS system warning also came up for no reason.
Went few ws, one change by Negative Cable but the symptom persist.
Other ws simply could not diagnose the problem that caused it.

Re: AA Report for kind advice

Ah I see so could be a common issue, looking at the report and repainted panels etc I'm still kinda skeptical on the car. Then again when it comes to dealers and 2nd hand cars I'm always skeptical lol.

Got it bro. I am going to try on that route.

Yes .... You can send to your preferred workshop to verify the faults are rectified provided they are agreeable. If they are not, the dealer is probably not honest.

Re: AA Report for kind advice

Geez, I google lemon law and experience shared by Chris. Definition of wear and tear is really grey. Even enforcement on lemon law is up to the consumer. I am actually having second thoughts.

Anyway, what do you think will likely need to be repaired base on your experience?

Gerrick......... those reported doesn't seem like a major issue TO ME.........

but please read the fine print of what are WEAR and TEAR....... if not your backside will tear.

Re: AA Report for kind advice

Gerrick... I'm in no position to help but best is bring the car to any site sponsors here. If any things get messy..u can huh huh them here...

Re: AA Report for kind advice

Bro, the body and underbody -> frame and members, indicates satisfactory. Can we assume that there is no major accident that is affecting the body chassis?

I am assuming based on this thought process.

Also I am not sure if they are considered reputable. But again I thought the best way is for a 3rd party w/s to do the verification on works they claimed. That should be fair for all.

Re: AA Report for kind advice

David, can I safely assume that since AAS report indicates satis on the body and under body members and frame, there is no major accident that is affecting the chassis?

.Agree that if chassis is damaged, it is an immediate no go.

Noted. This is a good tip already.

Re: AA Report for kind advice

Bro, better not to assume that. The best approach is to go and get an independent workshop to check for you. :)

You are right. Thanks bro.

Re: AA Report for kind advice

For this type of suddenly came up for no reason SRS problem -

- ABG module
- Steering clock spring
- Harness
- Airbag

Replace 1-1 by WS using their experience .....

Am no expert but normally if airbag deploy - there are 2 stages.

Stage 1 can reset. Stage 2 - tough to reset and would stay around till you can do something to the ECU.

Re: AA Report for kind advice

As the forumers here mentioned if I were in your shoes best not to assume and bring it to one of the site sponsor workshop to check it thoroughly. They can also advise at the same time what needs to change and how much, since they specialist in conti cars they would be best placed to determine all the issues. AA, STA all this I was told are more suited for normal B&B cars, that said AA is alot more detailed than STA.

Can't speak for the warranty arrangement with the workshop, minor issues perhaps they will still cover but major issues might be another story? (they need to protect their profits at the end) Again best get the specialist workshop to review that in more depth to gauge on the lifespan of the GB, GB issues can range from 2K to 10K or more you better be clear how much the dealer is willing to cover on this warranty coverage.

Btw did you put down a deposit on the car?

Re: AA Report for kind advice

Bro, I just called AAS today for them to help elaborate the report. Below the reply:

1. Most BMW especially >5years will have engine and GB seepage. The workshop is the one that can determine what needs to be done exactly.
2. No major accident for the car. It could be a "hit the carpark pillar" incident.
3. The dust cover and stopper can be replaced. Worst case for multi-link is that it may need to be replaced. Suspension seems alright.
4. For the restraint system, normally it is due to sensor fault. The workshop can rectify that.
5. AAS can perform a re-evaluation after the car is rectify with a lower cost than a full evaluation.

Yes, you make a good point. I should ask them on the monetary cap they will put for repairs to gauge if they are realistic and not overselling.

And I did place a deposit with disclaimer on engine, GB and no major accident.

Re: AA Report for kind advice

In all fairness if AA stands by what they say and the chassis is good then no major accident has occurred. I was reading a post on another forum (hope its okay to link here), basically its similar on how the dealer warranty the GB but in the end also play around. Not saying your dealer chao kuan but its important they manage your expectations this way everyone happy, hope for the best expect the worse kind of thing. E60 is a great ride, if the car is relatively fuss free I have no doubts you will enjoy it making any minor maintenance worth it.
