I know many guys in here are into photography.

I need some advise here, I'm on 5DMKII with 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, am thinking of getting the below (advised needed):

1. EF16-35mm f/2.8L II IS USM or any recommendation
2. EF 85mm f1.2L II USM or EF 100mm f2 USM
3. EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM II or EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM

Please don't OT me :)

Why do u need to change lens? 24-105 has very good coverage.

Re: Advise needed for Lens for 5DMKII

16-35 is your best walkaround lens. f/2.8 is heavy, it depends on whether if you like to lug around heavy gear on your neck?

Not changing lens bro, just want to add on to my lenses for better pics but don't want to just buy as they are not cheap :|. 16-35 for wide angle landscape pictures.

As for the rest i am considering.

Nope.... i want something probably 2 lens when on travel.

A wide angle lens + a walk about lens

Re: Advise needed for Lens for 5DMKII

i heard 100-400 isnt good..u might wanna find out more

wide angle....go check out 8-15..would be a nice fisheye-wide :) fun i guess..but not sure if its out for sale yet

The 16-35mm f2.8 II is a very good lens for wide angles shots (landscape). I like the 70-200 f4.0 for outdoor daytime use. It is very sharp and much lighter than its brother 70-200mm f2.8

It is advisable as it damn heavy to carry 2. I did it when i was in Melbourne for 3 wks. 24-105 should be more than adequate to cover landscape photo. If u r novice, it advisable to stick ur current setup until u know what u 1. What is important is software (photographer) & not hardware.

Agree ;) advise taken into consideration bro

agreed. i use the 24-105mm quite a bit myself. At times, i just bring along the cheapo 50mm 1.8 just for fun.

Hi,

16-35 f2.8 is good for landscapes and night scenery shots, so if you want to do the two, nice complement to 24-105 which is nice for take tourist shots (with your family in it type).

85mm and 100mm are for different purpose, 85mm is the ultimate portrait lens (very heavy cos its one GIANT piece of glass), not so sure about the 100mm f2, but this is the only non-L lens in your options, if i were to be you, i will end up striking it off the list. 135mm f2 is my personal top of the wish list lens, so u may want to consider. I loved it when i borrowed it for outdoor wedding shoots.

70-200 f2.8 is good but heavy, 100-400 is nice but not as fast. 100-400 is more for wildlife kind of shots i feel, push/pull zoom feels like a novelty to most. In the end, you will dread bringing either out cos they are too long and darn heavy.

I have a few lens, but now i mostly only bring the 24-105 out and nothing else, its the ultimate walkabout, so its good enough.

Cheers,
Darryl.

its depends on wat u wan to shoot .... if landscape n scenery is wat u really into during travel then i vote for the 10-22mm which i always carry together wif my 24-105.

I still miss the 10-22mm as its 1 of the best wide angle on canon...

Your kit zoom is good for 90% of situation.

Get a 50/1.8 for low light. At $130 you can't go wrong. It is the lightest and one of the sharpest lens.
