Too true. Wonder if the porky-techs came up with something akin to Godzilla - would the legions of GTR despisers like it... hmm!
Walter Rorhl likes suspension travel. His non-racing life was spent tuning long suspension travel stuff to handle well.
Few people despise the GTR, really. It's something I would like, but if I were to buy something like the GTR which the salient points to me are:
1) Very fast
2) automatic / clutchless manual transmission
3) Heavy
4) Huge Torque
5) 2+2 seater
the GTR then competes with the following cars:
1) BMW M3 E92 (glorious high rev engine, Manual trans)
2) Audi RS4 (even heavier, Manual trans)
3) AMG C63 (best engine of all, but auto)
4) Maser GT (beautiful! but nothing else)
5) BMW M6, RS6 (even heavier, auto only)
6) Panamera (light, rest unknown)
And I'm not sure that the GTR can win my heart over the M3, MGT and C63 in that order. I'm considering the MGT because it's a bloody high class seductress which screws my brain and fills me with lust and forget everything else, and when I'm in her arms, I'll not regret it even after few months of being in her. The M3 because, it really don't show its weight and the C63 because I've a soft spot for AMG and fuelled by the hope that AMG MCT will alleviate the suffering from the autobox next year. And all this is fantasy bullshit based on reviews of the C63 and the GTR because I"ve driven neither. The MGT I don't need to drive it, just look at it is enough, that it's on my list got nothing to do with how it drives. It may drive like an S-Class which I expect it to, and I'm still happy because it's like a pink vulva.
Price is `about the same bracket, stretchable' especially if you consider the current known servicing costs of the GTR.
So it's not about despising the GTR.
Of course, all this if I were in the market for a car like the GTR/M3 etc. Which I am not at this time because I'm still in love.
