I drive pass that junction pretty frequently on sat nights, usually around 10pm + cos we visit some relative's shop in that area. There were a few times when I cannot see the traffic lights and I will be seeing the next set of lights instead.
But as Im never the first car approaching the red lights due to the heavy traffic at that time, I will slow down as the cars in front slow down. Sometimes I will think how come green lights but everyone stop. Then i will see orhh.....got the red lights here. I also did see some cars slowly cruise pass the traffic lights then jam brakes and the other side traffic who have right of way horn and screech to a halt as well. But during those hours, traffic is heavy, everyone will be driving pretty slowly as well therefore usually no accidents from my driving experience in that area.
Driving frequently at that stretch of road, I have become seasoned and will always look out for the lights at that particular junction. There are too many red lights within the short distances and sometimes if one is not concentrating well, then mistakes or misjudgement might occur.
Putting the overhead traffic light is a good move, a big one would be the best solution I guess for now.

I agree but if you read LTA's PhD style reply in the papers today regarding the traffic lights...
"We cannot over-emphasize the importance for motorists to abide by the mandatory traffic signals and keep to the speed limits, and not to drive if they drink,” it said.
you cannot help but feel saliva building up in your mouth ready to spit at them.
How the pua cb are we supposed to obey mandatory traffic signals if we can't fcuking see them

Yes I agree with you, from their response in the papers, its sorta cover backside kinda response and to tell the higher ups, they followed SOP and protocols when designing the traffic junction and traffic lights, etc.

It's a simple case of 'prevention is better than cure' which is advocated on sg cigarettes
I am disgusted, as we are timing about lives here, they still got time to tok kok!
It's all these little things that will reduce the 10.1% margin.

he dare say 小题大做 because no one died nor seriously injured
but if you review the accident video, the lexus bang the taxi at the side rear bumper
had the lexus bang the car just slightly close to the rear door, the impact could be similar to ferrari case
hence, it's not small case ... it could have been a worse case scenario
the sentence should weighted the worse case scenario (hypothetically) > can or not ... asking mw
