That's the first step if you wish to DIY. For those who dare, you can try my method which was a 3-step buffing/polishing with different grit sandpaper (those 'smooth' green felt types). I used this on my previous cars.

The next step is even more important - you need to get a good sealant to protect the plastic once the oxidized layer has been removed. That will protect the lenses and slow down the oxidisation after the restoration.

For best results, approach the experts which are our site sponsor workshops (eg. Revol, etc) which can be found in the site sponsor directory.

Cheers

I use DA polisher + headlamp polishing compound, finishing with collinite 845 = 100% satisfaction. If you DIY make sure you are not burning your lamp cover by staying your polisher at same position for long time or else it will be chao ta.

You need to sand and polish your headlights definitely. You can head to Toh Guan theres on grooming shop who does for $60 or you can try Dr Glass(mobile service). I did mine with them for $80 bucks, excellent work i would say.

Today went to Autobac to buy something. They have head lights polish for $30 per pair. You may want to try it.

Their headlight polish service CMI... they only use a small bit of meguiar plastiX and buff your headlights to make them look "brighter". All done within 10mins, no sanding or application of headlight UV protector is involved.

On heavy oxidized headlamp polish, they need to wetsand by using #1000, #2000 and finishing with #3000 sandpaper, then follow by compound polishing and ultra fine polishing cream. Some shop skip those fussy procedure and just use #1000 sandpaper follow by polish and protection coating. End up the oxidized layer eliminated but some fine scratch is there and trap dirt and dust , when the time goes by, it will be worst than before. This kind of work need half day to complete.

Just share my own experience here, don't flame me like MCFers.

Just make sure you ask what is the final protection coating they use. Some UV protection coat can't last long, if they use meguiars wax for final finishing , just slap them by your boots.

Hehe, no la, i accompanied my friend for his headlights polishing by a freelance which claim himself as best headlight polishing expert in local, end up i saw what he's doing is worst than a half pail full rookie like me. But lucky his price is damn cheap and he keep treat us ciggrates and mineral water till i don't want to slap him by my sandals. At last, i still had to help my friend to redo again.
It depends on owner expectation on the outcome.
