Any opinions/experience on Morel Speakers?

Hi all,

Haven't seen much talk on this so just wondering if anyone has any opinions or experience with Morel Speakers? Particularly the Dotech Ovations? :)

Typically overpriced in Singapore, distributor is quite an ar*e.
Must go above Dotech... at least the Hybrid (if still the same name).

haha..thanks for the input bfd...but that's way beyond what i'm willing to pay for a pair of speakers :p

bro, you looking at solely Morel ?? In my opinion it's not too bad... but some of the pricings are quite high... i tink there's 1 audio shop at balestier that specialises in Morel speakers...

another option is to try out other speakers? you can visit audio forums, go for their meetup and you'll hear manymany types of speakers... i've went there, heard Morel, focals, DA, and many others... finally decided on DB Platinium.... price is withtin my budget and i'd say it's value for money :)

Thanks for input guys...i'm not limiting myself to just Morels...was just wondering about opinions and experiences on these speakers as they're one of the sets i'm considering.

one thing to note... auditing someone else's setup is the closest u can get to understanding the sound characteristics but bear in mind, u need to allow for differences depending on installation, amp settings, crossover etc...

focal are typically bright cos of the metal tweets... but i've heard focals that sound incredibly easy on the ears. Also, be careful not to suffer from fatigue of listening to too many setups.

as for your case, are u going for 2 way 5" component at passive ?

i'll be going 2 way 6" components on passive :)

And i don't think i'll have to worry about fatigue from listening to too many setups...i don't know enough ppl or groups to do so....if anything else, i'll suffer from not being able to audit any or enough setups before going ahead with install :p

so u are prepared to mod the doors ?
e46...u can get away with selected models such as Morel Hybrid without cutting the door, but compromise on the sound.

nah...i'll probably go with the cutting...else i'll be compromising on the mid-bass.

besides, it's not visible on the outside anyways...the only thing i'll wanna check on is if i can still re-install the stock speakers when i finally sell the car.

Just thought i'd update this thread since i started it.

I finally decided on the components and went with the Morel Hybrid Ovation Series II. They're hooked up to my JL Audio HD600/4 amp in passive, giving each set about 150watts of RMS power.

Conclusion - Loving it! Vocals are amazing on the MT-22 tweeters, and definately true to what most reviews have said about the 'warmer' sound output. Am really happy with the midbass too, and i'm able to fully appreciate them because my subs arent in yet :(. I did however go with cutting the door panels, mounting the midbass directly on the doors as opposed to the plastic panel and lastly soundproofing the doors. I'm guessing the sealed enclosure must play a part in the better mid-bass output as well.

Now all that's left is to anxiously wait for my 13TW5 to arrive :)

Anyone knows where the head unit can play MP3? If not, any solution? I don't wish to buy the Ipod connector.
