Anybody upgraded their HU or added a signal processor to E46

Ah.... the beauty of the Audio Control EQ is that you deal away with passive hi-low converters. The AEQ has the ability to read the signals from your speaker wires and process then through the EQ portion to spit out line out levels ready for Front, Rear and Sub amps.....

Serious fun.....

Thats provided one is having the stock Hu, which requires Hi-lo converters. Alternatively, can get a good LOC like David NAvone's, stuck into a digital processor like the alpine701 and with the same price of about $1k thereabout, it shud be more value for money ??

I'm going down the PXAX-701 / RUX-701 route starting next week. Will be using the stock HU for the time being while waiting for my aftermarket HU to come in.

Personally, the 701 solves all my EQ, crossover, Time alignment needs while being able to branch the signals into 8 channels.

I can set presets for "driver only", "driver + passenger", "passenger only (for demos)", and associated EQ, gains, crossover levels for SQ, trance, R&B, DVD DTS etc.

BTW, if you want to buy this unit+controller, I think its retailing below 1k for export set.

But think about what you need.. add a bit more and pay $1600+, you can get the Clarion HX-D2 HU that has very very good 24bit burr brown CD quality sound, and built in time alignment, crossover, 5 band parametric EQ etc etc.

I'm getting the 701 only because of future plans to add in DVD capability and to cater for my itching tweaking hands. :laughlik:

How r u gonna place the controller? in the glove compartment?

$1k excluding installation?

Please feed me wif ur reviews after u've done it ok? Thanks iceman.

MaVrk, actually the controller can be a plug and play thingy. SAw in my fren's car... he plug in only when he needs to tune, when he's done he plug it out. Cool.

The main controller is hidden in the boot side panel, near CD changer.

The controller display is neatly tucked into the cubby hole in the dash, above the ashtray and below the A/C controls.

Haven't played around with it, installed already, next morning left for biz trip. Next week I shall get my hands on those juicy knobs... (think clean, hahaha)
