Yup,

Looking for something sporty + not the usual suspects. And only me and wifey so no need for much space. Surprise can put 2 small golf bags...

Actually new hard top cab is quite nice but not convinced adding couple of hundred kg to the roof and structure will handle the same.

Driven Z4 a few times... great handling, great looks. Only thing is noise and 2 seats.

Went to VINCAR to look at the E92 and Z4.

Here're the figures
E92 325CI - $183 opening price (cf $188 from PML)
has aluminium trim, hifi loudspeaker system, and sunroof over PML
+ other options are way cheaper than PML (sigh, PML even whacks us on the options...)

E92 335CI - $214 opening price (cf $238 from PML)
has logic 7 sound system but does not have iDrive and comfort access cf PML

Z4 2.5i $178 for manual (prob $181 for auto)... PML selling at $198
Includes Xenon lights
Z4 3.0i $198 + with Xenon lights, compared to $225 at PML

I think the Z4M at Vincar going at $245 versus $298 at PML

Anyone has experience at MBM Wheelpower? Thought their expertise is in Merc?

Also wondering about the resale value of PI cars... had the impression that after the 3 year warranty period, doesn't matter where the car came from since the only advantage PML has is the "official warranty"?

I was quoted $210k for 335 Coupe by Vincar Ubi n $215k for 335 Coupe by Vincar Commonwealth same day

I am sure they will sell this car for $205k if not lesser. I spoke to a friend, an ex used car dealer. He said " aiya, of cos vincar will quote higher lah....wait for people to bargain mah. Afterall, they know some people who buy BMW willing to splurge ". If I decide that 335i is on my shopping list today I will offer $200k to PI and walk away.

I spoke to a friend, an ex used car dealer. He said " aiya, of cos vincar will quote higher lah....wait for people to bargain mah. Afterall, they know some people who buy BMW willing to splurge ". If I decide that 335i is on my shopping list today I will offer $200k to PI and walk away.

That's precisely the point. The PI will let you bargain, knowing that you will buy straight from AD if the discount is not enticing.... if PI is not an attractive avenue, then how they survive for so long? There must be pluses along the way, as with minuses.

Nope, just my colleague's family biz. For me, just another avenue to explore instead of relying on AD and secondary market. BTW, AFAIK, one forumer, who owns a car spa here, bought a M3 cab directly from Germany and save almost S$100K. Another avenue to consider. Again, things have been done with pluses and minuses, so it is up to us to be discerning and do our research rather than writing them off. Tio boh, hia dee?

Oh when its time to bin my 320i, or kua-sah to my other hia-dees, I will remember yr statement today. Wah lao, rich or not rich, $100k sure is alot of mulah man....why give it to Saimern Lock when u can put them in some unit trust or beng funds.:screwedu:

Wah! $100k ?! Even considering PML has discounts on the raw cost? :furious:

Maybe we should form a co-operative and import cars by ourselves... take the savings, and set up BMW Kopi Tiam where we can gather everynight. :juggle: Isn't that what NTUC is doing with other things?

There are risks involved as well, to enjoy that sorts of savings. BMW AG will not deal direct with the buyer, so they will recommend a local exporter to a buyer. That is a lot of credit risks. The buyer is not dealing with BMW AG - he or she is dealing with a German exporter !!! So if the exporter folds......

The PI prices are still on the high side as far as cost saving is concerned.
10 pct there about is inadequate IMO, need at least 15% onwards
Coz if u think about it, their profit margin is still quite healthy. Anyway, I think PI gives more room for bargaining.

Still think that setting up co-op to import BMWs may not be a bad idea... like PI but for the masses... non-profit... all savings go straight to members

Imagine, people who used to drive Camrys and Accords can now afford 320i.
People who are considering 320i can drive 325i or coupe.
and so on....
Singapore would be a much better place to live...

You're right, they do specialize in Merc. I was at Vincar and was surprised they use them for all car brands sold. I would think maybe they should make a separate deal with BVO or J4C for bmw and mini servicing.

But from what i know of MBM their service is great. My friend used to send her benz there. I'm just not sure they have the equipment/experience for bmws.

Hoii....No lah. U think I am car broker is it.

Very easy what. Just go to alexandra PML, take their price/spec list. Test drive the car. Then walk across the road to Vincar(low shop houses) and ask for same. Thats what I will do. Then Compare . Now you know why PML banned me from entering their showroom:laughlik: Because I just enjoy screwing them.

Say, whats up with the 335i cabriolet's price from the PI? Anyone asked?
