Hi all,

Some may find it funny or stupid.. Lols.....:)

I have been driving Jepun ride for my past 20+ years, i find the sensor on the rear mirror does not helps me. Some motorist does not on thier head light, and I can't see them!!:(

I decided to cover up the sensor with Jia Jia.....

Re: Anyone did this.......?

I find the auto dimming rear view mirror very useful. Rear car never on headlight is their problem. I do not find that it is an issue, just need to physically check ur blind spot before changing lanes or overtaking will do.

Re: Anyone did this.......?

no need la.. just get use to it can liao....

Ok, will take it out and get use to it. Thanks!

What I mean is, I am not asking you to follow what I do but rather to share my thoughts on it. If you feel better and more comfortable while driving with the auto dimming rear view mirror deactivated, by all means go ahead. There is no right nor wrong. But rather what you most prefer. Happy Motoring.

Re: Anyone did this.......?

I actually find the dimmer very useful cos a lot of blind drivers on the streets one...sg streets already so brightly lit, they still go mod their cars with super bright lights(illegal standard ones of course) that if u dont use non dimming rear view,u will be blinded by them momentarily

Re: Anyone did this.......?

u have nicely manicured nails.

end OT

Re: Anyone did this.......?

Mine was covered when I attached a wider mirror...tried before and the dimming really makes it dark...still getting use to it.

Re: Anyone did this.......?

Wow.... don't understand why it is necessary for u to remove anti-glare. So many inconsiderate and blur drivers out there that uses high beam then never off. To add to that... there are some other cars their HiDs like cock eye.... one high one low.

Re: Anyone did this.......?

No need to deactivate the anti glare function. Just put dark tint on your rear wind screen or put up rear roller blind.
I find this feature useful if no tinted screen.

Re: Anyone did this.......?

the day i left infratint, i can almost see nothing in my rear mirror when the sensor is activated, especially for motorcycles....now i am used to it and can see something.

Re: Anyone did this.......?

Tinting is just like Aircon. Once you use it, you can't live without it. Both provide so much comfort in our sunny island.

Re: Anyone did this.......?

I make it a habit to check the rear-view mirror regularly when I know I am above the speed limit. The auto-dimming is not helpful because all u can see a the dark outline/profile of the car behind you, and you can't differentiate whether it just another motorist or TP (highway patrol)....

The difference is substantial becoz with the sensor deactivated... you can clearly identify the colour, brand and type of car in your rear-view and avoid be blind-sided by the TP.

Then there is always the problem of not being able to see motor bikes if they are tailgating you... you can't see them because when they are driving so close to your rear, the bright lights from their bike shining into your boot gets deflected upwards... activating the auto dimming sensor... that is damn dangerous.. in my opinion.

So, I always put a sticker over the sensor to override this feature. Did this for my previous ride and also for my current E60. I find the bmw sensor too sensitive (especially on poorly-lit roads) and the auto-dimming way is set way too dark.

I think E60 dont suits you. You need a roofless car. Then you can see everything clearly... :)

i did enjoy roofless for a while, but had to give it up due to growing family size.

but with roofless, cameras get a clear view of your face and u can't pull a woffles wu, hehe
