Anyone getting the new X5?

As per the topic above. I had a private viewing last night - gotta say, it looks a lot better in the metal than on pictures. Specs also super freaking high, even for base xDrive35i model - simi sai also got: Adaptive LED lights, touch pad iDrive controller, comfort seats, surround view, top view, helicopter view, reverse camera, front bumper camera - more cameras than MCE tunnel! There's also Head Up display, the (now expected) Navigation & Harman Kardon Surround Sound system as well - while the 50i gets the ostentatiously overpriced B&O, of course.

It's pretty competitively priced as well - the basic xDrive35i has an asking price of $382,800 before dunno whatever discounts you can wring from your favourite Sales person.

I gotta say, I'm sorely tempted... anyone else amongst the X-men here?

Re: Anyone getting the new X5?

Thread moved to X5 - [F15] forum.

Haven't seen it in person but man it's bloody intimidating from the photos.

B&O standard in xDrive50i, Harman Kardon in xDrive35i. Both specs also have panoramic sunroofs bigger than Kim Kardashian's ass... And yes, Adaptive LED looks damn fierce.

Size matters ....... Tua Liap is good.

Re: Anyone getting the new X5?

I heard the only drawbacks are the steering because now its full electric, but for a SUV it doesn't really matter right?
The standard options list sounds damn tempting, only thing ill add is the M perf kit. Only problem i have is its too similar to the facelift E70.

Ive got the E70 35i with BMW Perf pack in white, i really wish i had the adjustable suspension and the comfort seats, does the new car come with adjustable suspension?

I didn't get a chance to test drive either cars (PML had the xDrive30d & xDrive50i for unofficial viewing): they haven't even been registered yet, so I can't comment on the all electric steering feel. Truthfully, I probably couldn't even tell the difference if it came up to me and slapped me: my F13 is all electric, and I found it OK, the F02 is all electric (with active steering) and I complain more about the active steering's feel than the all electric steering's supposedly dead in the water lack of it, and I can't remember how my old E65 felt - in fact, I reckon it felt the same. Electric or hydraulic, let's be honest, I'm never gonna track any of my cars, much less an SUV which I've not even bought (note to Meek :lol2:).

Suspensions wise, here's what I know:

The xDrive30d & xDrive35i will come spec'ed with Adaptive Suspension "Comfort", where as the xDrive50i has Adaptive Suspension "Professional" - which combines "Comfort" & "Dynamic" modes - essentially, different tuning settings to deliver different driving characteristics (the "Professional" also includes active anti roll systems). The rear axle suspension has air cushioning, but I didn't see any button in the cars that indicated an ability to raise or lower the suspension/ride height - and common sense would confirm my suspicions, because only the REAR axle comes with air suspensions, the front are still steel items.

Hope that helps - and boy, I'm starting to sound like a Sales Exec myself!

Re: Anyone getting the new X5?

Oh, for stjmd, if you are like me, and am keen on spec'ing it up to M-sport level, the suspension is the M Adaptive "Comfort" (i.e. rear shocks are air suspensions) - you can't spec "Dynamic" or "Professional" for the M-sport trim. Don't ask me why...

Re: Anyone getting the new X5?

Sibei fierce leh... only thing the Sales Exec couldn't answer was if our local M-sport variant here will be getting the rectangular exhausts, even for the xDrive35i (which comes with round pipes in standard spec form). I think the car looks a lot nicer with the rectangular M-sport spec pipes in chrome black... *drool*

Your excellency can you instruct your favorite droid C3PO to book one for you. Too much details and jargons tabled here. If you regret after buying sell me half price and will potentially save me a lot of hotel bills!

Your highness, you don't need to rack up hotel bills what. Your 2 rows of Semi-D's at Horizon Hills are for the exclusive use of your harem and what with their 1001 Arabian nights, I mean, XMM positions.... why don't you buy one, and if you don't like it, sell it to me at bro to bro half price instead? :lol2:

Acherly, I think the X5 is Fugly beyond belief. But, Fugly for SUV is kinda useful - because it screams "get the fcuk out of my way" and makes me feel I have a swinging dick far bigger than the size of my underpants, while on the road.

In fact, if I ever end up plonking down my hard earned moolah for the Fugly X5, I will want to Fuglize it even more. Just to scare the chow Angmo into giving up his parking space at Holland Village....

It would look even better with a set of Hamann rim.
