My WS also used 5W50 for my 06 E90. I was surprised initially but he explained because the engine is older, better protection.
In the morning or starting the car after parking for a while, when first moving off, and easing off the accelerator, can feel the car jerk and slow down quite a bit. But after that when the oil warms up, its ok.
Contemplating if I should change to 5W40 in the next servicing.

I have been using 5W30 all the while until I used this WS. Of course I felt the sluggish and heaviness of the car after changing to W50. Unfortunately the WS only have 0W40 5W50 for me to choose from. Will try 0W40 the next round.
