ATF Oil change

Hi,

I am new to BMW and will be getting mine soon, 320i
Read online some said "lifetime" transmission fluid and doesn't require change.
Some say otherwise with various mileage from 60k to 120k.

Would like to know what's the average mileage to change ATF oil? Is it a must?
How many litres would that be?
And a rough cost estimation?

I do mine at 50k km, recommended otherwise prepare to change AT after 100k km. ATF oil is ex. For 8 speed AT about 3 litre.
