Auto Start Stop Default

Any of you guys who got your new F30 rides requested PML to decode and set the Auto Start Stop to last user mode as default?
Saw in other forums it is possible to do so in their respective countries.

Re: Auto Start Stop Default

Anyone here used the auto start stop function? Is it recommended to be used? My new f30 is coming in 1.5 weeks time and it will be my first time trying out this function. So if I press on the break to full, the engine will stop and when I release a bit, the engine will auto start? No lag or movement jerks when you release?

Re: Auto Start Stop Default

Your car's FC will improve. Some people not happy on the lag when moving off from standstill in certain situations.

Some will use it to save a little fuel
Some will not use it cos they feel its irritating

Just as Red Bean Bun said, recently FC is a very important factor to BMW owners

Re: Auto Start Stop Default

What happens in a traffic jam? Start stop start stop start stop non-stop?

My new F30 also arriving around your time too.. Did you test-drive? When i tested a month ago, it seemed fine. I did not feel any lagging in pick up. Not planning to decode. Just leave it as it is. Anyway, there is a button above the start/stop button for you to press in case u do not want to use the auto stop function. Good luck.

Exactly! Damn irritating.
In long run not too sure what will it do to the engine, starter and battery life.

Re: Auto Start Stop Default

Yup, very irritating in jams or when parking. I always disable it before moving off, have yet to re-program the car. The manual also states that this function can cause premature wear on certain vehicle components but doesn't indicate which ones. So its a trade-off between fuel savings/wear & tear/keeping your sanity in check, take your pick

Re: Auto Start Stop Default

With this system installed, BMW can lower their car's emission and comply to certain EU regulation for car manufacturers.
Useful or not is another issue, they have the potential to save fuel and its just offering owners a choice to do so

Re: Auto Start Stop Default

2 types -

1. A button to turn it off
2. No button to turn it off as it is default

Funny thing are that the ones that cannot be turn off has no jerk or hardly any lag as soon as you move off .
Test drive it and you'll know . That itself determined my ride . The irritating jerk !

Think the ActivHybrids (3 & 5) do not have a button to disable the function, all others should have the 'OFF' button

BINGO you are right .

Before you feel the sudden jerk , the batt takes over the startup of the engine as you move off ....

That makes sense, EfficientDynamics at its best!
So which ride did you get, Hybrid 3 or 5?

My friend bought the 3, had a very short spin in it. Very torquey and fun to drive.
Enjoy your new car!

Is it? Cos my friend showed me that the batt is hidden under the boot floor.
His 3er had a pretty decent sized boot.
