Bath with Swissvax

Had my car for 4 yrs, this is the first time wax job done professionally at Detail Lab after reading some good review from forum members. So, i headed down to visit Ben to get the job done.

He's humble and down to earth type, so before he started i asked him to differentiate the types of service he provides. I ended up getting a layer of Dupont PPS and Swissvax Concorso. There were lots of tiny rain droplets marks mainly the rooftop, which we suspected caused by the oxidation process hidden under 'Coverking' carcover (got it from Ryan, some yrs back). Not that carcover is no good, but i was to lazy to remove and clean the rain water sitting on top..:p

After some prep work, the hairline cuts and marks were removed up to 95% since some cuts were too deep and i told Ben to stop and save it for the next round.

Ben started at 11:30am, and i was with him throughout his work. Since i had nowhere to go, he was kind to 'Tapau' my lunch and dessert...yummy chicken rice!

He could've finished 1-2 hours earlier but i think i was asking too much and he paused a lot to explain and answer my questions and finally finished at 5:30pm.

Here's the outcome...not the best shots but i think it does a lot of justice to the detailed work Ben had done including waxing my lovin LM-R. Overall, highly recommend if you are looking to detail your ride.

Thanks for viewing!

Bro... can i add in with a shocker??
My bro brought his M3 in... and after a few days, we notice some scratch marks. So my bro brought his car back in and asked... Ben promptly replied that he used sandpaper to remove bird shit and ensured that it was due to lacquer heating n cooling effect that revealed the scratches.
I've polised my own car for years, been to numerous workshops, chatted with fello DIY enthusiasts.
I will not put this guy down... all i can say is... "Open your eyes and your ears'. Nevertheless after all these groomers tell you, believe nothin that will last even 3 months. CONSTANT MAINTENANCE IS THE KEY.
I once went crazy and waxed my car 3 times w/o driving within a week. The moment i took my car out, it poured, for the last meetup at T3. By the time i reached, the car looked as though it was just polished. Judge for urself.
I went thought what PPS and whatever crap. If YOU dont take care, whatever the groomer tried and promised will be lost. IF YOU ARE THAT ANAL, PLEASE DIY.
Try not brushing your teeth for a week.... does that make sense now????

Yes, wet sanding and not just dry sand paper on surface. 2000 to 3000 grit sandpaper. Maybe just let Ben knows change out those masking tapes to 3M blue tape. Masking tapes are cheap but not meant to cover trimming during polishing. They come out easily when contact with polish pads. Just my 2 cents.

i suppose the rationale for using masking tape is that they r cheap in large quantities. using 3M blue tape would be costly for groomers

Yes. It's costly but no choice. They're great cos they don't stain the rubber or trim. No masking tape can promise that.
