Hi All,

Any reccomendations on a 70 Amp replacement battery;
1. What brand to choose? Amaron, Varta or Hoeppecke?
2. Where to change for a reasonable price?
3. How much will it cost?

Thanks for the advise.

Re: Battery Replacement

not sure if the brands listed have warranty... i personally will choose the PML one... think it is less than S$200 and comes with a two year warranty...

Re: Battery Replacement

Price less than S$200 does it include installation at PML?

I plan to change mine by Feb 07.

Re: Battery Replacement

should be there abouts S$200 inclusive of labour... need to check with PML on their latest price...

think you can get PML to charge the battery... think it is about S$20-30... that is if your batt is about 2+ years... think the original batt can last about 3-4 years depending on use/mileage... conservatively, 2.5 years is the average life span of OEM batt...

think by the time you get to change to the 3rd batt, the alternator should be due for change too...

Re: Battery Replacement

Hi guys,

I know this post is about 6 months old, but I figured I might as well post useful information here.

Just had BMW Mobile Service guys come and change my battery for me on my 320 E46 (12V, 70Ah). The cost was $261.11 (7% GST already included). I figured that a good OEM battery would also cost in the region of $150 - $180, maybe even $200.

So figured that with the service from BMW Mobile Service guys plus the warranty, I got a reasonable deal.

As an aside, found out that the 318s use the 55Ah batteries and the 5 series use the 90Ah ones. think the 7 series use something like 120Ah.

Just some useful information.

Cheers,

Re: Battery Replacement

thanks for the data bro... btw, how old is your ride???

Re: Battery Replacement

Mine's almost 5 years... 4yrs 11 months to be exact. So I'm actually quite happy that the original battery.

Re: Battery Replacement

The lifespan and ampere needs of your batteries depends on many factors, especially how heavily your car is ICEd up. Imagine running on 2 amps and many other accessories. Typical lifespan is about 2 years. Cost of a Varta replacement is below $200 all in. If you amortise this amount over 2 years, it costs lesser than a full-day parking at Takashimaya on a per month basis......

Re: Battery Replacement

If you drive your car daily....your battery will last longer.

If you are overease and leave your car idle for more then 4 days then things will not be the same :(

This happen to both my car :(

Re: Battery Replacement

Bros,
For the OEM batts do BMs use special ones or can we just get from any workshop?
