Battery warning

Hi,

Anyone faced this battery warning?
"increased battery discharge when stationary........."

i got it almost every alternate days. especially when the car didn't start for >12hrs.
I need to off and start the car again then warning disappear.

Anyone has a solution?

Nothing mentioned in the manual.

Thanks in advance..... :)

Re: Battery warning

I got the opposite message "Low battery discharge" occasionally with engine off. I drove the car to PML and SA assured me after a quick check that the battery's voltage is ok.

Actually I think yours is a good sign as the car's computer is switching off the equipment that is draining the car's battery. To me, that's a smart system as it prevents your battery from going flat.

Re: Battery warning

I only get it with two DVRs connected n recording, loss of comfort access too. One DVR recording overnight no warning.

Re: Battery warning

Oh that means the warning is saying that it has switched off electrical device due to battery discharge high.
This protects the battery from draining.

I've blackvue installed too, with Powermagic.

So in this smart car, no need powermagic also safe.

Re: Battery warning

:huhhuh: I thought Powermagic is supposed to stop the Blackvue when the battery gets low, so your car doesn't have to start shutting down bit by bit. Now it's the other way around - car functions are being sacrificed for an uninterrupted video recording?

Re: Battery warning

I think the electrical device is the blackvue, cos my car has no other electrical device when off other than blackvue.
The car shut off the blackvue first before powermagic shut the blackvue.

Re: Battery warning

After much consideration and sourcing, I avoided vehicle battery issues by troubling myself daily with battery packs for my mini-HD DVR. Troublesome but am happy w/o tapping on the vehicle's battery supply.

Re: Battery warning

That will be great because there will be no messy wiring. Do you have a picture of your set up? I am also thinking of doing the same.

There is still an exposure of wire from the DVR to the Battery pack, just not tapping into the vehicle's battery.

As requested, picture below, do note that the exposed connecting wire is not 'align' neatly... am lazy to do it.

Re: Battery warning

from technical experience, battery discharge while stationary means there are electrical devices that having high current output. Please check battery voltage while stationary, reading should be above 13.8V.

Meaning?
if Batt is above 13.8V, everything still normal with high current discharge? stay put.
if below 13.8V, better to disconnect Blackvue to protect battery?

Thanks for the advice and discussion.... :)

Re: Battery warning

hi guys... i also having the same problem after i installed blackvue w powermagic for 24hr recording. every morning, the warning of "high rate of discharge battery" and occasionally it appears "increase of battery discharge" and it got me very frustrated as the time n date always gt reset. pls help me and advice me what to do... thanks in advance my bimmer bros.... :((

Re: Battery warning

For my car,
When i park over nite for about 14hr,(after work park until next morning go work), it didn't show this message.
anything more than that it will show the "high discharge message", but no reset of time and radio stations.

my last trip home, i usually disable the ASS, for the batt to get full charge b4 i park for the night.

Dunno if this helps. U try and let us know if its the same.

i kind of get used to the message when park longer than usual. :)

Hi all. I seem to have the same problem on my 520. Took it in once and they told me to leave overnight. After that, it was ok for about a month. I also disable the Ass but the message has come back. On average about once a month thus far. Not sure what options they are. Mine is fully stock and I don't have anything hooked up. But I searched on the web, and its a common problem.

Re: Battery warning

Oh i have the same issue this morning, started the engine and leaving it on for more than 5 minutes. got back into the car only to see this control warning. However it was gone after i restart the engine, will be observing as i drive.

Normally do you guys start the engine and drive off or wait for the engine to warm up? for how long?
thanks!
