BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

I think brakes, rims and tyres are the most important parts of your car.

A replica mirror or spoiler will not kill you, but brakes, rims, tyres...... why take the risks?

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

suffice to say, if sh*t hits the fan and an accident happens, guess the insurance company will not pay if investigations show it was due to failure of imitation parts?

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

Why do you think they will fail? Millions of imitation products on the market these days, many many of them are good quality.
What if they were made in the "automotive" part of china, bet they go through stringent QA. Even some proper brand name products are still made in china, so one for you, one for me.

Like i said, wonder how many are running these already, and wonder how many are running them without realising they are imitations?

Try buying an imitation watch from Bangkok, and tell me how rigorous that watch can withstand.

If I need to brake my car at 200 km/h on NS Highway, the last thing I wanna do is to pray that the replica brake kit does NOT fail on me.

Case of penny wise pound foolish?

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

i totally agree, but 3 points i am making.
1.People WILL buy them
2. Branded prducts do get made in china
3. How many are running them now and not knowing they are fake?

200 on the NS on fakeys and not knowing, no need to pray, cause you have peace of mind you have the real item.

I bet at the next meetup we may even see a few on fakies

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

haha, let's not open a can of worms about china-produced stuff.

not that i despise china-made products, but the terms 'QC' and 'china-made' seem to be oxymorons (not for everything made in china, but in most cases) - stringent production standards are difficult to enforce. had my own gig doing premiums, and had learnt the had way - got whacked so many times by companies there until quite sian.

case in point...

friend bought 'genuine' taylormade golf set in shanghai. price difference not a lot. was quite puzzled that it was available cos new model that was just released and had not arrived in singapore yet - the pros had just got theirs in the US. thought nothing about it since taylormade and just about any major golf equipment manufacturer had factories in china.

although the clubs were usable, he felt there was something wrong. this guy is a single handicapper. brought it to shop to get it fitted - thought it was due to the shafts and wanted to change to stiffer ones. got a shock when the shop told him they can't do anything to his clubs as they were counterfeit.

friend bang balls (his own, not golf balls). paid slightly less for a fake set when he could've spent slightly more to get the real thing.

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

yes, again, you would be surprised what is actually made in china. Shall we talk about Nike?

again, if its cheap, people will buy it, then complain later. how many stories do you hear like that!!

another example, Honda is my favourite off road bike, awesome stuff, oh wait, honda's in Singapore are actually made in Thailand!! So, is that how i want a famous brand to be known? IS the quality any different?

bet you buy china VCD dont you? cause it's cheap right?

1. Only two types of drivers will buy fake brakes - first type does not know, second type knows, but prefer to impress with replicas than to stick to stock brakes. Danger discounted. Pride and ego take over common senses. The point here is to educate the first type of people.

2. Agree. I can wear Calvin Klein boxers from China. But I will not drive a Cherry QQ at 200 km/h.

3. See point one. Education and awareness.

That is the same mentality as jokers who swallow blue pills without realising it is not viagra....... I am not so sure about the peace of mind part, when you know it last, or late.

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

mate, it's the people who have them and have no idea. Thats what i mean. Poor buggers

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

surprisingly, the stuff made in thailand and japan is different in terms of quality.

not only honda, toyota too!

friend bought PI camry and stripped out his rear parcel shelf for ICE installation. found out that the reinforcement cross brace is round, not flat like those made in thailand.

and yes, i but china vcds, but only for edison chen video. mata-kia, don't come and catch me, cos i gave it away [to robot] after watching it.

Highlight to the poor buggers, bring awareness on the danger, and do not let the shrewd vendors get away cheaply !!!

Pursue the matter before someone is killed.

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

mate, i make bloody CD's. stop buying pirates. Kills me and the artists.

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

I do buy replica stuff, from DVDs to boxer shorts. But things like electronics, mechanical items, even soccer boots, I prefer the real thing. Why? Cause the risks are not worth it. Short-circuit, damaged parts, injury....... what for?

As for the vendors, there is a market either due to ignorance or high margin pricing. Ignorance can be educated. Like I have said, buying a set of fake brake kit and buying a replica bumper are two different propositions. If the authorities cannot address the vendor issues, then let the awareness grow. The high margin pricing issue is harder to tackle, owing to R&D, marketing costs and what not.

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

dude, don't worry lah...

only get original stuff, as original as colonel sander's recipe.

only get china-made edison chen vdo cos there are no originals (unless you have them. do you? is it clearer? cos the one i had damn blur).

Re: BEWARE: Fake Stoptech In Singapore Market!

hey kenn, on the contrary.

kpkb cos i spent up to 2x more for original m-aero kit.

only felt the difference during NSH when they proved their worth - did not flex / warp in high speed driving and added to stability.
