BHP and Torque performance and display

Hi all,

There is an option on the iDrive to display the HP and Nm (sports Display).

I maxed out the car and engine on a deserted road (with piggy bag ECU, and sports transmission from a site sponsor), checking on the HP and Nm values. It seems to me the max values are the specifications claimed by BMW. Meaning the stage 1 upgrade from the piggy-back ECU is not working (supplier claimed 40HP and 90nm improvements, with such claims, there ought to be clear visual differences on the display gauges)???

Are the values from the Sports display accurate? will they only display maxed programmed values specified by the factory? Or is it that my upgrade is not working? :huhhuh::huhhuh::huhhuh:

Any advice from the gurus?

TIA

Re: BHP and Torque performance and display

My guess is that as you've said these are max values from the factory. There are no measurement devices on the car per se. You should be able to feel the performance improvements if they are as claimed. Otherwise a dyno run, and comparison of the results with those of other unmodded same model cars should tell you something.

Where did you check the HP and NM figures from when you max out the car ?

Perhaps you would like to read up the thread below ;

Those numbers on sport display is not accurate de.

It does not increase with mod nor does it decrease with age.

Ten years down the road when all the DI engines are choked full of carbon, the display will still show you the same power level as when it was brand new. By then you will still believe your engine is making the same power as when it first left the factory ah?

Re: BHP and Torque performance and display

The torque will only keep increasing if it constantly requires power. As in the first hard acceleration until where the rpm reached the maximum for the available torque. After that it will drop. For turbo engines, it will be lower. As for horsepower, it should climb as the engine reaches it's peak horses at the claimed rpm.

Re: BHP and Torque performance and display

Try using another type of gauge that let's you store max value. You should be able to see the difference before and after tune. Most probably the torque and hp figures are theoretically calculated by the transmission ecu. Perhaps a dyno could be more accurate.

I thought tat display is to hao lian to girls only

Re: BHP and Torque performance and display

Since u are using piggyback, the system is not able to show you the increased power. Think u need to flash your dme in order for it to calculate the increased power.

Re: BHP and Torque performance and display

Thank you all for the replies.

I guess going for a dyno will tell the truth.....

Anyone done a dyno for the piggyback from C***x before?

TIA

Hi Bro,
C...X also recom. me the piggy on my e93 ? need your advise please. many thanks, i m very new with this.
