Have you tried turning off the entertainment system. It could be electrical interference propagating to the speakers. Can be elusive - it could be from the front door or back speakers.
hahaha the seatbelt, thats classic. Now you mention, i oso have little birdies, but mine is from console or seat, stuff must rattle loose after awhile. Or could be all the bells between my ears.

is it a e46? I had same problem. rotating device in the air vents when switch on air con would have this sound. both 1999 and 2002 models... problems only surface after 2nd yr onwards... wear and tear la....
