Installing at that location may be very central. However, during cold days, the windscreen will fog up infront of the camera. Do take note.
Alternatively, install it off center, nearer to driver. This is to avoid the ac vent in the middle of the dashboard

Hmm, I thought the heat from the camera would prevent condensation there... On my cars, parking overnight would result in the entire car covered with condensation, all except around the car camera.. the camera is configured to be on 24 hours..

Set a static IP address on your phone when connecting to it via wifi.

Else no internet access.

Not necessary. The camera becomes a wifi access point which the phone can connect to directly.

How to do that ???

On the iphone or ipad -

Select the wifi ssid of your camera then get into the info sub menu (touch letter i)

Change the IP address to anything within the same subnet mask as the camera wifi

--> remember the IP and mask of the dhcp tab

--> switch to the static tab and key in the IP and mask

--> Leave the router field blank -->

side track a bit, i'm beginning to think rear cameras are becoming necessary. with everyone playing big brother and capturing video and submtting to LTA, sometime it's themselves who are asses. so rear camera will capture their undoing as part of 'insurance'...

I am using android phone. What do I need to do to have internet access when connected to camera WiFi?Thank you.

Can you configure a static address for that ssid ?

Try ...

Go to settings--> wireless & network settings--> wifi settings-->click menu button and select advanced--> use static ip

Key in 192.168.8.2 mask 255.255.255.0

Make sure router or gateway is blank.

Cannot find the settings I bad at computer.
Anyway no issue as I hardly use the function. I just leave the camera running.once again thank you for your help.
