BMC air filter CDA

I am considering to install BMC airbox for my car---> the very restricted 4 pot valvetonic engine. Anyone used it before or know anyone who had experience with it? Mike from SWC recommended me to use it.... Because i connected a air pipe from the front of the car bumper to the stock airbox. Need comments and feedback

Re: BMC air filter CDA

why did you connect a pipe to the stock airbox? whatg kinda MODs you had in your car needs such alteration? Sorry I'm really very curious? end OT

Re: BMC air filter CDA

Ops... the pipe is not connected to the stock airbox. The pipe is there for standby for a new airbox which i am still scouting. Heard Gruppe M has too large a surface area of induction, thus de-powering the car. But this BMC airbox has a even smaller surface area than the stock airbox, with a conical design within to build up pressure... I am wondering if it will boost the HP of my car and if anyone had tried it out before. Can check out at the following link. Carbon Dynamic Airbox

Re: BMC air filter CDA

I have installed the BMC air filter... It really killed the low end torque. But its only from 0-2.5k RPM. The torque starts to kick in real fast when it hit 3k RPM. Its just very troublesome for me when i go up the slope in my multi story carpark... bo lat. And it will be very slow when going through narrow roads... But its definitely better than Gruppe M.

Re: BMC air filter CDA

i installed it... it improves power throughoutb the rev range...not only the low end..

Re: BMC air filter CDA

Installed this BMC CDA carbon airbox for 3 years now, did a dyno tune on the 325iS back in 06. comparing the power output between the BMC CDA and K&N air filter element and stock paper element

With the paper element along with my other mods, i got a 116.2KW at the wheels.

K&N element, 116.8KW at the wheels

BMC CDA , 118.6KW at the wheels

Torque also inreased from 346NM to 401NM

I strongly believe in this Carbon airbox and it sounds great.

Since then, now together with M3 Cams, Car is now pushing 138.9KW at the wheels

Cheers!
