Actually about only 1-2 weeks ago. During the morning Class 95 radio show, they were talking about whether speeding cause accident etc.....

Then there was one caller (woman) who call in and complain that she was fine $170 and deducted 8 points for speeding in Dairy Farm Rd.
She then go on and claim that she drove a BRAND NEW BMW 5 Series and it is impossible to drive at the 50km/h speed limit. She said that her car, once she step on it already 80km/h and she keep on emphasising that she is driving a BRAND NEW BMW 5 Series and not those Japs car or old car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So those EVO and STI no fight ok, her 5 series 0-100km/h is less than 1 sec.....kekeke :screwedu:

Now I know why of all the cars that I drove before, only my black Bmw kena vandalised twice within a period of 2 months........ :furious:

within the realm of specific outputs of 120hp/litre on an M54, you'll have to spend nearly twice as much (or more) money on the to match power and accel of the Jap 2.0Ts.

moving on into the 150/litre and higher ranges on an M54, it worsens to easily 4-6 times more money to match the 2.0Ts. Exceeding 160hp/litre on pump gas with any semblence of reliability, running the bore and stroke of an M54(even if you go to max bore and have a custom crank made) may well be impossible.

2 main limitations -

1. There is not enough valve area to support required mass flow at NA pressure differentials.

2. Even if there was enough valve area, you cannot push max piston speeds much higher than 8000 feet per min (mean piston speed around 5000 FPM [~25m/s] before you start to run into oil film break up, or the accompanying inertia loads applied to the reciprocating masses destroy them. A M54 revving to 9000rpm will exceed F1 maximum piston speed standards by 700-1000 feet per minute, and mean piston speeds by some 250 feet per minute. It is quite a feat if you can reliably out-piston-speed F1 stuff! The F1 engine developers will snap you up heheh

To match turbos in terms of power and realiability requires building an NA engine from the ground up with the specific purpose of doing it. And still it will cost a bomb. Modifying a current NA M54 to match turbos will cost two bombs.
 
not to mention the car will be undrivable when cold.

I think we should just ask those people who dont like the BMW brand to step out and identify themselves, actually for the sole purpose of identifying the chio ones. If they are chio, they are right.

I'm one of those "Bastard" driving a white E36, fortunately without all the trims e.g. blue lights mentioned. As for the article writter, if I am not mistaken, she is "Phua Chu Kang"'s wife in reel life.. so chio or not you guys judge.

Kenntona - I think she is taking a safe step to single out BMW drivers as it is still minority compared to taxi drivers... she'll loose viewership otherwise. Also, don't wage war on cab drivers... we'll be definitely outnumbered... cabrio drivers still can think lah.

Shift the article aside so long as we are BMW drivers.. which means Beautiful, Mannered and Wonderful drivers. Our cars also "Beats Mercedes Wholesale" and at the end of the day.. the "Best Machine Wins".. see.. we are a lucky lots isn't it.

You might be right on her potshot on bimmer drivers.

This morning, some auntie driving a black Honda Jazz almost swerve into me on CTE while trying to switch lanes. I caught up, stare at her, and she was not even a least bit apologetic. Damn. Should I flame her in SHC? And start my personal vendetta against Jazz drivers?

Nah. I'd think it's just her. Whatever car she's driving, she will drive in the same reckless way. It is not the typical Jazz drivers who exhibit these poor driving habits and snouty attitude. It is her - so why bother generalising all the Jazz (or Honda) drivers?

I'd hope the author of the article could read this. As the Chinese goes, "Do not tip the entire boat over with a bamboo pole." In short, do not generalise and cast judgement on the entire cohort based on one isolate incident.

BTW, I'd think I've found out who was the E39 driver described in the article......

Looking at it there are more Jap car owners than conti's so she'd try to win sympathizers from the Jap model owners thus increase her readership. Not to mention that most Beemer drivers are young guns, and so there you get teh juice for teh article.

I could somehow thinks that she'll probably buy a beemer when she can afford to, right now she just wanna jerk off on BMW owners in her article since this is her chance to increase readership. Once she get her promotion, she'll prolly buys a beemer and then write another article and cum on those Evo/STI owners. lolz
