BMW F10 Coolant Leak (523i)

So i was having this issue of suddenly notified by the console that my coolant is low and need to top up.
It all happened i think 2 months ago? So I went to purchase Distilled Water and poured about a litre in, ran for a while 2 weeks later the screen pop up again that coolant was low!

So I read, do not mix coolants. And being unsure what was the coolant in the car, before I actually do a flush totally, guess its time to find out what really went wrong.
I check my car every morning and pretty sure nothing was leaking. So my conclusion was, maybe its only on high heat / pressure, then it will start to leak.

But speculating wasn't going to help, cos its just guessing, Ended up bringing to a reputable workshop to go through a pressure test.

After 1 hr, I receive a call from the workshop and also a list of items that needs to be changed out. including pump, radiator, thermostat, hoses, coolants, service fees etc...
All works out to about 2.6k Ouch!

Then I heard from someone that in the market there is a product that you pour into your coolant tank, and it will do its magic and seak the leaks, saving you thousands of dollars. To be honest I was very very skeptical, how can a product thats $25 thats able to stop the leaks. So I bought a bottle, and poured them all in.

To my surprise, the leak totally stop, and yes, it works, just like those advertisements in youtube. I was in disbelief thinking maybe the leak will happen again. So I have been checking my coolant level every morning for the past 2 weeks, so far so good!!!!!

If u search around the product is call k-S***, if you are facing the same issue as I do, maybe u wanna try it too. No guarantee of course hahaha.

End of the day, everything change is the best, if you are willing to cough out the dough

Coolant disappearing can be caused by 2 things

1. A leak along the associated various coolant lines or radiator

2. A blown head gasket

Watch this

The workshop is defiantly over quoting you for the job, go down to Eng Soon and get the hoses and radiator yourself it wont cost 1k.

Referance parts needed here
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select

Labor to install and put new coolant in wont cost 1k. Do put the workshops name here for reference no need to be shy about it as its NOT for workshop bashing but for info for future bros, thanks

On my Dec 2013 F10 1 year ago, I did changed almost the entire cooling system including pump, radiator, expansion tank & the 19 hoses (all from Eng Soon, $2050) & the downtime was 3 days ($642). Reason being (1) the cooling system should last until scrap; (2) preventive maintenance to save time & money as ad-hoc maintenance will cost more in the long run but having said that I might try the $25 quick fix if I am not keeping the car for long or it is near to scrap; (3) there were obvious signs of leakage - water marks, items appearance has faded noticeably. So, I think our options do differ depending on the circumstances.
