i have a S and its ok as a daily most of the time.
although sometimes it can be tiring, then again it could be because i have a manual ... haha ....
like what nuke says, if backseats and boot space is not a big deal den the R.
having said that, the boot space is actually not too bad.
the main problem is that the space is split between the front and back boot.
you can't really go wrong with either car.

Thanks for all these feedback. I have one primary concern. Regarding build quality, which car is better? I know by trackking any cars rattling od the panels etc is bound to happen, does anyone know which of this two might be build better?

really? i hv never had any rattles in a 27 track days lambo. only my balls rattle...

i thinkt here r no comparisons...both r 2 diff cars. u need to decide wat kind of lifestyle u gonna need with these 2 cars b4 anything else.

if im in the mkt for a M3....i will b comparing agst a RS5 or c63...maybe a used 911 2+2 at a stretch.

if im looking at the cayman, i will be comparing vs a Z4M or used R8 or lotus....n end up buying a used lambo...oops

I own a Cayman S manual. For handling and badge, go for the Cayman.

For V8 glorious sound track and all rounder capabilities, go for the M3.

bro, no need to think further.. get the cayman R.. u'll definitely be hooked.. for my boxster i only changed the engine oil regularly n no problems at all! the cayman only had to change one small o-ring for the engine oil release, and brake pads/tyres! headache free!!

Things going for GaymanR
1.more lifestyle, more branded
2.better on track, not sure about daily driving in city traffic
3.prefer gayman exterior over M3


Things going for M3
1.More corporate
2.extra seats may come in useful
3.Personally I prefer the interior more than Gayman
4.Aftermarket exhuast sound blew me off


Seems like cayman is much better than M3 in handling.. this is one important issue.

if it is just a second car to you, i suggest Cayman R. I believe u can opt for the PDK?

Personally, I am not a big fan of the cayman looks hence I went for Z4 the last time round. End of day both are great cars to own =)

actually i would spring for the r8 over the cayman r.
alot more road presence and its handling is quite sublime.
and being used, u don't take as big of a hit on the depreciation.
i having been eyeing the r8 myself for sometime now.
just have to figure out how to explain to the wife why i can't pick her up because my clubs are in the passenger seat..... LOL

first of all...im no porky fan. so yes i will take the R8. anytime. that engine is a gem....n u can still cruise in it. V8 is V8. whatever good n powerful ur flat 6 is.....u cant win a V8 for its sound the creaminess etc....
