Well, if cannot go PML can come to Munich Automobiles. We can effect the service recall for all BMWs in SIngapore as well.

:huhhuh: other brands usually got only one agent. simple simple.

We have 2 service centres, so how? Since got car through PML, we wait for call from them or what? One of our bros says PML denying sg cars are involved. Do owners make their own arrangements? PML can be a bit sticky about cars being "touched" by others.

BTW, Munich ready to start on service recalls yet? So are sg cars involved?

Sorry, but am quite confused about everything now.

cheers :)

As of today's Strait Times Home Section, It is part of a global recall of 1.3miliion cars. Singapore has approximately 10000 vehicles but of which at least 40% is said to have been scrapped. That leaves 6000 vehicles. A lot of vehicles to do service recalls on.

Bro, Read today's Straits Times Home Section. Front and centre, 10000 Cars in SG affected! AFter deducting 40% on possibly being scrapped by now, still leaves 6000 cars. Munich Automobiles is an authorized BMW service centre, all BMW we can do.

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

Have they started the recall? Didn't heard anyting from PML yet. All my kakis also never heard anything, and were just told to wait when they called up svc centre.
KNN....always promote what JOY motto......now all these call JOY ah??!!? Can't even give an answer!

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

:oooops: they probably also just heard, now scrambling around. If so many cars and since they obliged to quickly do all, they have to clear service bays and that means servicing and repair have to KIV and that means lost revenue. They also cannot commit as they have to wait for parts to arrive from HQ.

Honestly, I don't envy them, not easy balancing servicing standards, after sales service, product quality, profitability especially when suddenly got so many cars on recall. Some more BMW owners who expect the highest levels. Maybe can cut them some slack for a couple of days to sort things out and then chase :)

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

Called PML today. Surprsingly got a very professional answer along the lines of:

"We are working on the re-call now, can I check your registration please and confirm that you are the owner..."

After checking my details, the gal told me to just wait for PML to contact me - either via phone or email. They are sorting it out.

Maybe I will be waiting fir the next 2 years...

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

need to go there?

there do a house call for me......

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

Sound like a simple enough check. Why not PML and/or MA publish the inspection instructions online for those owners who like to DIY to check and if okay, then no need to go for professional check. Can take a photo and send to PML/MA for confirmation that the cover is installed properly. Just a thought.

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

Good to hear that PML has finally decided to bear the responsibility of dealing with the recall. Guess all the previous guys who called got the "i duno so just deny everything" reaction.

Seriously feel that they are bloody unprofessional.... So unlike the aircraft technicians I deal with, total trust in them! No cutting of corners and no BS cos people's lives are at stake.

Wonder if the PML supervisors and managers are equally cool about it or they already got theie battery connectors changes immediately! pui!!:biggun:

I'm not defending PML but for aircraft, there is very strict regulatory oversight and the licensed aircraft engineers or technicians are personally liable for the action(s) they take or not take, i.e. they can go to jail if what they did or didn't do violate the regulations. Also, the pay is much higher than car mechanic. Hence, the higher professionalism displayed. Same for pilots versus bus drivers.

Hmmm that might well be true but based on my own experience, there is Kia si professionals and there are passionate professionals who will not handover the aircraft when they feel they hv not fully done what they could even if the book says so.

But u r right la, can't expect the same level of professionalism. Even 10% will be more than enough given PML's track record! Haha

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

Looks like we are affected but just that PML has yet to get their act together.

I called PML the morning it came out in the press and I was told my 08 model is not affected. So, based on the news so far that would be bollocks.

I guess I will drive up with it to Penang come April and hope it does not catch fire or anything.

BTW, I keep seeing M-Nut saying they are authorised to do it. What does it mean? We can go to them now and get it done? Still covered by the recall or are they charging for it?

Do I need to register with them first since I bought my car second hand? Uh - now they call them pre-owned, pre-love...

Looks like with a first BIG incident they get a BIG FAIL.

Same answer received...... 2 years later, change car Liao....

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

Don't think the risk of catching fire is that great. If not, many E60s would have caught fire as the model has been around for many years. The recall is precautionary, just like many other recalls, so as to ensure such safety risks, however minute, when discovered are dealt with affirmatively.

Nonetheless, PML and MA should be ready to give reassuring answers to their customers when the news gone public. In fact, they should pre-empt such news and inform customers before the news report. This can be done on their website and then followed up by e-mail and phone call.

Dear spoiltbrat,
Munich Automobiles as one of the four Authorised premium service centre in Singapore, will assist any BMW owner who has a technical fault or concern. The point of charges are will not be levied if it is part of a warranty coverage or as part of a sanctioned recall. However it would take time to ascertain all the affected vehicles in Singapore and verify the need for parts replacement. If it would alleviate the owners' concern of the potentially affected BMW car, they can come by Munich Automobiles and allow us to evaluate. No charges for warranty claims. And no need for registration if you are a pre-owned BMW owner, we are all BMW.

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

So any bros/sis have gone into PML svc centres to get this fault fixed up since the start of this saga? Can give some feedback?

Re: BMW recalls 1.3 mil 5&6 series due faulty battery connector cover

Like what some of you have said here, it is more a pre-emptive recall and less of a serious defect with known cases of disaster. So, should be safe to continue driving (touch wood).

And, I think it is useless to go in to PML and MA now until they are ready with replacement parts. Otherwise, it will just be a "lim kopi" trip - pure waste of time.

Until then it is still a refine ride.

Cheers
