hi everyone,

i think my front brake disc needs replacement, i have covered 38,000km. There are some 'ling ling' sound coming from the front right disc. it comes on and off, have a look at the disc, think it needs replacement.

is this wear n tear common?........shld i change back to stock or after market?

i have also just changed my 4 brake pads, any ideas what could i do?

thanks a lot...guys

Re: brake disc kaput ?

Re: brake disc kaput ?

how much u get it changed for?

Re: brake disc kaput ?

oem....stock.

need to check invoice ...will pm u the cost later...

Re: brake disc kaput ?

thanks....bmw disc..worn out pretty fast ya....

Re: brake disc kaput ?

wow....twice.....!! ....that is pretty fast.

u changed at pml or after market workshop?

Re: brake disc kaput ?

oops im 100k plus still on the 1st set of discs...time to change!

Re: brake disc kaput ?

brake wear is quite uneven on single piston calipers, if possible, it might be good to make it a practice to change discs with each pad change at ... say 20K? (for stock discs)

Re: brake disc kaput ?

hi como, just thought id share my own experience with you though might not be the exact case..

experienced the same ling ling sound you mentioned but mine was after 2 times of very hard braking when mileage was about 23000 km...went home and examined the brakes and there was a bad burning smell...the rim on the affected side was also searing hot compared to the mildly hot rim on the the side...from what i know you got 2 possibilities...

1. brake disc "botak" and need replacement or else risk damaging your calipers

2. calipers already jammed/rubbing on your disc...causing the sound and get this fixed asap. if not too late, can salvage with caliper repair kit done by workshop. else, maybe have to change calipers too?

hope this helps either way...just go get it checked asap

Re: brake disc kaput ?

what? you guys push brake pedal too hard, wear out too quick!! Plus, stock BMW brake pads suck. DBA make good rotors, i think you can get them for BMW's, also have slotted or drilled, niceeeeeeeeeee. Why replace? can re machine. I already had mine done, like new again.

bro como.. .the way u drive.. i am not surprised u gotto repalce your brake disk so soon..hahahahahah.. :D :D...
the best is to consider DBA lor.. shld be even cheaper than OEM disks.. or best, change to BBK.. :D :D
