Brakes Upgrade

As my pads and rotor are due for a change soon, I'm considering doing a small upgrade on my brakes.

BBK like Brembo, Alcon,... are out picture as I'm working on a small budget.

Below are the options that I'm exploring

1. Change to BMW performance front only
2. Change to 335 brake set front + rear
3. Change to Dixcel slotted rotor + pad, front + rear

Below are my preference/criteria

1. Performance
2. Value for money
3. Aesthetics /Looks

Which option will your choose.

Thks for your advise and comments.

Re: Brakes Upgrade

The 335 brakes will make your car stops better but the rolling resistance is higher due to increased unsprung weight.
FC will be slightly worse too I think.

Re: Brakes Upgrade

when I fixed my bmw performance brakes front & back on my 320i, my friend bought a used 335 front & back for his 323i
we tried both and the 335 brakes performs so much better

if u are working on a budget, 335 brakes make a lot of sense

This comparison is certainly useful for me.

Re: Brakes Upgrade

335 Front & Rear second-hand if you are on a budget is the best bet. But note the condition of the calipers and rotors before you commit.

An alternative, if you want all brand new, is to use the following set-up:

Front -- 6pot BMW Performance Brakes
Rear -- 335i rear calipers + aftermarket rotors

Total cost is around 4k. Good looks and stops well. I have driven 335 as well and I think that both brake set-ups are comparable. Benefit of this set-up is that it looks nice lol. Rear Performance Brakes are available as well but they are merely 2 pot calipers and are smaller than the 335 rears. Further they need fabrication for the rear rotors to fit.

335 seems e best choice basing on yur preference.

Only concern is unsprung weight but can lessen it by matching with after market rotors. Balance braking is main factor when upgrading of yur brakes. Thus 335 best!! Stop better than 320i 300mm size rotors & comes as a set (as per Alvin mentioned)

Only question is if u wanna spray it to yur choice of colors?

Cheers ~~ :)

** Yur state price for 335i is used set or new? with rotors, pads?

Re: Brakes Upgrade

To add, 335 brake is very econimical to run since the OEM rotor and pads are cheap. Pads change is about total less than S$400 (front and rear). Rotor wise, I believe it about avg S$150/pc (front and rear)......

Rotor can last for at least 100 000km (non-tracked)
front pad can last at least 28 000km (non-tracked)
Rear pad can last at least 50 000km (non-tracked)

Hope this help.
Best of all, no sizzzzz sound....progressive

With all the comments so far, incline toward 335 brakes.

May consider to spray to different color if damage is not big

Prices quoted for 335 is based used set.

Thanks Tomace.

Do remember 335 rear is not direct fit. Need to modify the inner drum for hand brake.
