Brembo GT and universal Brembo brake ?

Hi,

Can any bro advice me on how to distinghish between them please ?

i am driving a e92 pre-FL 3 series and wanting to change to BBK.

However, after seeing some of them which are on sale recently, I start to wonder why there are so many differences between Brembo brake calipers in particular.

Are all Brembo GT caliper are monbloc for front and rear ? or front only ?

Are universal brembo caliper a cheaper route to move-on ?

I am wanting to make sure I am not paying a brembo universal BBK for the price of brembo GT BBK set.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Front 6 pot is monobloc but not always for the rear. Depends if the order was for newer monobloc calipers or previous lotus type caliper.

Steven, the best way to know is always to check the part number.

Pertaining specifically to your E92 (it also fits E90/93), these are the part numbers by Brembo made specifically for your ride.

These are for 335s only.

Front

1M1.8010A - 355mm cross drilled rotors with 6 piston monobloc calipers
1M2.8010A - 355mm slotted rotors with 6 piston monobloc calipers
1M1.9014A - 380mm cross drilled rotors with 6 piston monobloc calipers
1M2.9014A - 380mm slotted rotors with 6 piston monobloc calipers

Rear
2C1.8021A - 345mm cross drilled rotors with 4 piston NON-monobloc calipers
2C2.8021A - 345mm slotted rotors with 4 piston NON-monobloc calipers
2P1.8011A - 345mm cross drilled rotors with 4 piston MONOBLOC calipers
2P2.8011A - 345mm slotted rotors with 4 piston MONOBLOC calipers

Hope this helps bro =)

Hi,

Correct me if I am wrong since I am still learning from all the pro here.

Brembo GT are brembo brake that made specially for certain model of the car.....eg. for 320, 325 and 335 used only so as Barry has stated, there are specific part # for each model.

Universal one so far I have semed was the calipers are different from GT and can be used across models and make, with different in the bracket to hold the brake in place. I have heard bracket can be custom make and it cost around $300-$400.

Hope I am right :) ?

bro MW, correct ? don't OT to "run-lion"....... :)

Re: Brembo GT and universal Brembo brake ?

Hey bro, you are not wrong in your explanation.

So far the Universal kits I've seen are using the Brembo 8 piston monobloc for the fronts and 4 piston non monobloc for the rear.
How it becomes universal is that the mounting brackets are modified to fit each and every individual car. Even the brake hats are drilled specifically for each make and model and not by Brembo (in some cases you can opt for original Brembo rotors IF they do have it for your ride).

Now here's the thing to look out for. I have personally come across some places where they actually used AMG brakes, Porsche brakes and then re-painting them branding it as Brembo. To me this is wrong, period.

Well I'm not saying the brakes are bad and/or cannot be used but the element of misinterpretation and the fact that the brackets are technically an unauthorized customization creates an effiy sticky situation should the brakes fail on you at the most inappropriate time.

So choose wisely!

My 0.002 rmb cents worth.
