Buying E36 318

Hi guys,
I've been looking for a E36 for quite a while but in vain.

1) Preferred Pricing is 8-20k by cash or Installments.
2) COE left at least 18-36months.
3) ICE/Audio unit no need.
4) Accident free.
5) Well maintained, good engine condition ( I'm a speeder)
6) Exterior and Interior not so important as I'm doing respray and leather seats if it its more than 2 years.

I wondered if my expectations are too harsh?
Please advise~

Re: Buying E36 318

I'm still looking for a E36 with minimum 2 years left (COE till >2013)

Re: Buying E36 318

Hi Guys,

I need some advises from our seasoned E36 BMW drivers here...

I just got a E36 318is with COE until Jun 2013 at $17231 with new Jan 2011 Road Tax.
As this is the 1st time I bought a COE car, I wondered if this is a good deal.

I'll need some more advises what to look or hear for before I finally signed the transfer papers.
Is it wise or costly to bring the car to STA for a 120 points checks before I sign the papers.

Re: Buying E36 318

what is the coe paper value or whatever's left of it.
17k/2.5 yrs = 6.8k/yr is still acceptable for a E36 given the recent hike in coe which in turn caused used car prices to increase.

however, i would caution you to look at the condition of the car, wear n tear, driveability cos these are the things thats going to cost you.
given the car age which is in its 2nd decade, there are alot of wear n tear issues to be well prepared for plus reserve some funds for that.
so its still wise to get a fellow E36 bro to shop with u. i don't trust the STA whatever point report anyway. just my 2 cents

Re: Buying E36 318

Hi,
I'm not sure how to see the COE value.
I'm also based on my $16500 / 30months = $550 ($731 is Road Tax)
How can we know if this 318is can renew another 10 years??
I'm new to this forum and have no E36 friends to follow me.
I'll be doing the paper works soon and any place to check for accident history?(I only know STA)

But here goes the details:-

Re: Buying E36 318

Hi all,
I've been advised to post the E36 318is car plate on the forum before I commit to the car.
PLATE: SDG635J
Anyone can PM me if they doesn't want to share their feedbacks here openly,,

Re: Buying E36 318

Bring it to one (or 2) of the specialist workshops for a proper check.
U'll prob need to set aside some $$$ for wear n tear / maintenance. Question is just hw much $$$

Re: Buying E36 318

Ok.. I have planned for a test at BOSS at Sin Ming.
Any other specialist workshops to recommend?

For wear & tear, is it cheaper to replace wear and tear parts now or replace once it breaks down.
I will prefer not breaking down at some expressway later on.
I have reserved additional $2000 to service this car and wondered if it is enough...

Hi,
The previous deal didn't go through?

Got an under-utilized e36 318iM MWTS.
PM me if interested.
Cheers.

Re: Buying E36 318

Previous deal didn't go well. I was told it was accident free and maintain free but after QC, it turns out bad.
There are like 10 problems.

After re-nego price, will see if dealer wearing a sheep skin agreeds to my harsh proposal.
Will call it off if he don't agreed.

Re: Buying E36 318

Ya lucky I did my own checks at one of our site sponsers.
I was a bit shy to do it as the so call dealer act was so brother to me.
But in the end, just another dealer whom will lie to sell...
Sad...
