Cabin Noise problem solved - DIY - E90

Dear all,

Just to share that I had suffered in silence for the past 5 months where my car has squeaky cabin noise.
To my discovery, it came from the door rubber seal which had harden due to old age.
The road movement had caused it to rub against the door frame which causes the squeak.

I had been recommended to change the whole rubber seal set OR spray the rubber lubricants to cure the noise.
However, I had found the simplest and cheapest solution which is to buy a 3M electrical tape and stick it along the door frame. You may also choose the transparent tape which best matches your car color.
The car is now running happily and quietly.
Please see the attached diagram and arrows below for a better understanding of how it's done.

But tape cheaper leh..... 70cents niah!

electrical tape will
1. go out of position after some time
2. adhesive on the tape will become slimy and grimy and will stick to the rubber seals when out of position

Let me try the tape on my car.
Should it fail, then re tape every 6 months.
$0.70 should last me around 2 years

Where you paste? on the metal body or the rubber? can have close up picture?? Thanks..

You will be surprised how long the talcum powder lasts. Rain water does not get past the edge where the seal occurs.

It's not the soft rubber that causing the squeak. It's the hard rubber (the outside layer). The software inside layer is for sound insulation and is not a problem.
