Re: Caltex 16% card from PML
Depending on what sort of discount or rebate you are getting from various credit cards, i believe this might be how it works. If you are getting upfront discount of more than 16% then this does not work for you. This is not a 16% off on top of 14%. I did check with Caltex station and also clarified with PML on the terms.
1. If payment by cash /nets (Station site discount = 5%)
Use Caltex-PML 16%
2. If payment by OCBC / HSBC card discount 9% + Site discount 5% = Total discount = 14%
Use Caltex-PML 16%
3. If payment with cards with rebates
Use Caltex-PML 16% to get upfront 16% discount + whatever backend rebate 3-5%
Official response from PML
Customer can enjoy an upfront discount of 16% off on Caltex Platinum 98 with Techron on weekends, which is over and above existing credit card rebates.
The savings you receive will be dependent on your payment mode:
Payment in Cash/NETS - Net savings: 16%Credit cards with no backend rebate - Net savings: 16%Credit cards with 3% backend rebate - Net savings: up to 18.5%Credit card with 5% backend rebate - Net savings: up to 20.2%
Terms and conditions apply for the discount and rebate stated:
The rebates mentioned refers to specific credit card privileges e.g. Citibank dividend card 5% rebate for petrol spend, UOB ONE 3.33% rebate. It does not refer to the upfront discount at Caltex stations.
The 16% off Caltex Platinum 98 is also NOT valid with other discounts or promotions, but if your credit card has their own backend rebate, then you will be able to enjoy higher savings overall.
