ECU no need to change.
Most people swap the 2.2 torque convertor to a 3.0 one to cope with the power increase. The rest of the gearbox remains the same.
SK+ is the smallest blower from ASA. It runs without an intercooler and is relatively simple to install compared with an SK1 system. The torque and power increase are also more modest (50-60 bhp).
SK1 system comprises of a bigger blower (TM-12) and includes an intercooler, just like turbocharged cars. The installation is much more complex due to the piping involved to hook up the supercharger to the intercooler to the engine. Gains are more substantial at around 100 bhp.
Whether you do an engine transplant or go with a supercharger, you will face the same problems of your stock 2.2 gearbox not being able to handle the extra power. But with a supercharger, it will be worse due to the stupendous torque increase. Yes, a supercharged 2.2 produces much more power and torque than a stock 3 litre engine.
Most people do fine with just a torque convertor swap with a SK1 charged 2.2 engine. In the event that the gearbox still fails, you have 2 options. 1) Rebuild and strengthen the failed autobox. 2) Manual conversion.
