Can the F30 320i (184hp) tuned to 328i (245hp)

Anyone has any idea about this? Was told by PML the engine and parts the same, except the 328i is tuned up.

Engine same, but not sure if intake/exhaust same. For sure entire drivetrain is different. Gear ratios different, final drive different. Even drive shaft diameter also different.

Read that 320i has 6 speed gear box, different turbo and probably different brake.
Same engine block but will probably need to change slot of things.
No doubt there will be ppl who will go down that path.

Stock is always best. Once started it will be a free fall into the abyss :)

Compression: 11.0 / 10.0 ; Different

I don't have the gear ratios with me now -- I tried searching, can't find either. I think I saw it in the brochure but I left that in the car.

Gearbox should be 8spd

Different brakes also, for sure. If drivetrain different, brakes likely different.

IMHO it is worth the money to just get a 328i (or 528i). The difference in these are already sufficient.

What is compression? What the numbers mean?

I check page 76 of the brochure, the transmission ratios of 320i, 328i and 335i are all different.328i has higher ratio than 320i and 335i has the highest.

They all using the 8 speed ZF transmission. How is the ratio different? A controlling software or hardware difference. What do the numbers mean?

I think its a different hardware. Same model different sub model. I recall the 320i and 328i have similar ratios in the mid ranges but different in the upper/lower ranges. Its a good move to keep the engine at the optimal power band and optimize for fuel economy or even top speed. The E90 318i and 320i had same gear and final drive ratios. The E90 320/323/325 had all the same gear ratios on the 6sp AT too, just a different final drive. Sometimes the gear seems too tall/short due to the multiplicative nature of the final drive. Eg the first gear of 320i feels too short.
