Cant open boot from within the car

Hiaz, my car doesn't have the boot open button inside the cabin. Need to stop engine, walk out of the car and lift the emblem to open it. I find it so idiotic...

Also, i realize one can lock yourself inside by pressing the lock button on the remote. Thereafter, you cannot unlock using any of the button in the car or pull any lever.... That is pretty crappy and dangerous. Imagine one day you decide to play around with the remote while in the car and press the lock button. Then, just so unluckily, you drop the remote somewhere under the seat and cannot retrieve it. You will be screwed! Also, dun lock anyone inside the car using remote and walk away. The person will throttle your neck if you get back, that is if he survives the ordeal.

I really wonder what is the point of that!?

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Joke right?

i thought unlock button is standard in the same position which is next to hazard lights button. also, if you pull the door open lever, it will unlock that door regardless of lock state.

remote release is at the side of the floor well.

could it be truly yours is without the above?

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Did u press the "door unlock" button first, before trying to open ur boot from outside?

If doesn't work, then try this: press the "door unlock" button then press the "boot unlock" button on your key (without removing the key from the key hole). Then open boot from outside.

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Boot issue:

I really cannot find the boot open button in the car. It should be on the right side of the driver's position. I saw a small black cover which i reckon it should be the button to unlock boot. Just don't understand why the button is missing...

Unlock issue:

Try sitting inside the car, close the door and press the lock button on the key (not the button above hazard light). Then try to unlock using the door handle or the button above the hazard light. Warning, when attempting this, make sure you don't drop the key under the seat or drop it somewhere that is difficult to retrieve, cos you will be locked inside the car. Only way to unlock is to use the remote key to unlock. I don't think it is just my car. Try it. I read the manual saying some national market car does that.

My car also doesn't have the boot unlock button. Btw did u try what I mentioned above?

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Btw the "door unlock" button I mentioned refers to the one above the hazard light button. U need to press it to unlock the car doors before u can open your boot from the outside. Try it. I'm serious, this was in my manual.

Bro, yrs which model / year?

My e85 2008 model have all the above functions leh.. the boot release button is next to the bonnet release lever..

The door unlock button is next to the hazard light button.

Also, when i lock using the remote key inside the car, I still can unlock by pulling the door handle twice or pressing the unlock button near the hand brake

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Ho ho maybe ask john the ski to take photo of its interior..

Re: Cant open boot from within the car

Not all cars come with the boot unlock button which is suppose to be next to the bonnet release lever....

mine is 23i. I double confirmed, triple confirm liao... the button is not there. It has been covered up by a black plastic. I also realize there is a on off switch beside the button which i strongly believe is a mod by previous owner. when on, it emits a very high pitch irritating sound, much like the reverse sensor. hate it. so had it turned off. Next time i take some pic and posts.
