Car feels different after servicing

I had the 50,000 km engine oil done recently at one of the site sponsor. I drive a 523i E60

It felt very differently and don't quite like it.
* when the engine is rev between 1500 and 2000 (to be precise, around 1800), there is a low bass sound
* the car felt heavier and tighter (sorry best description i think of) and not as smooth as before.

Any one know why?

What oil was used ?

Re: Car feels different after servicing

I don't know. Orange metal tin (better one supposedly, for racing i think).
Seems that the entire workshop use that and there are plenty of other bimmer (3, 5, 7) areound.....

i think it's a German brand

Re: Car feels different after servicing

Yeah, that's the one. It's supposedly better than the noraml (purple / blue tin).

But frankly speaking, i don't like it. It feels that the engine is alwasy one gear down, and when step on the accelerator, there is a slight lag and then the car will take off suddenly. This is now how it was before when i used the oil from PML. It doesn't drive like a 6 cylnder engine but more like a 4 cylinder but turbo charged.

Re: Car feels different after servicing

the viscosity of the oil was thicker than your previous, thus u feel its more sluggish. go back to using a thinner oil like 5w30...

OWS oils are thick. esp the OWS turbo racing

i recommend AMSOIL 10w30... unless your car is turbocharged and hi rev a lot, then u shd use a 50w oil

Re: Car feels different after servicing

bro hetraa

Thanks for the advice.

I assume it means that the 7L OWS i just used will be all wasted?

Where do you advice to get the oil?

Re: Car feels different after servicing

Why dont u use this oil for 5000 km before pour it out. I hiadee can then oil his rifle...kekekeke

yes your oil is thicker thats why its more sluggish. your previous oil is probably 30, not 40.

Re Amsoil, I ve tried..its good but doesnt last at all. 2,000km and is gone.

Maybe you should do a throttle reset and see how that goes first.

Personally thicker oil should result in a softer engine sound and saw an editorial that mentioned that 40 oil should give a better performance in our climate.

Re: Car feels different after servicing

I am confused.....

PML / BMW uses 0w40...

what is best for us in SGP?

Re: Car feels different after servicing

The OWS sucks after 3000-4000k....feels sluggish like hell once u hit that.
Try a lighter oil if u prefer for "lite-ness" but for normal daily drive type of feeling, stick to a 40 oil like mobil or castrol

I tried both. The 30 oil seems great in the night. But really bad in the day. I think it's got problem with cooling the engine being that its thinner.

The 40 oil not so drastic.

Re: Car feels different after servicing

PML uses 0W30 Castrol Formula SLX oil

Most of the Castrol authorized dealers sell only the Castrol Edge Sport 0W40. Perhaps you can try our site sponsors.

Re: Car feels different after servicing

I tried asking a few site sponsors, and they each seem to carry their own "speciality oil"...

Sometimes I would clear the high level adaptations when things get sluggish.

Basically, I would disconnect my batteries for about 15 minutes then connect it back.
