Time to change tyres for my ride. Going thru the past posts re this matter, it appears that Yokohama AVS dB or Bridgestone GR080 would be suitable for my type of use. 225/55/R16. Key criteria - comfort and low noise.

Has anyone changed tyres (either one of the above types or other recommendations) recently? It would be good to share some price info as I really hv no feel of the current market. Appreciate your input on prices and recommendation of tyre outlets.

Some of my colleague use the Federal SS535 and found that it was good value. It's directional and cost around $100 a piece. I myself used the SS595 Sport for 2 years and won't complaint coz it's comparable to the ES-100 with lesser noise and damn good grip especially on the wet. 595 cost more but not as much as the ES-100

I have sat in Mapleleaf's ride (e46), 17" GR80's very quiet indeed. Also been in Legacy GT wagon with Toyo T1-R. Still quiet but that's a UHP tire. Excellent ride too. I am using AVS DB, grip is good, noise is fairly low, but ride is abit firmer than the other two, in my opinion. So for performance with refinement, i would go for the Toyo. For absolute refinement with reasonable performance I would look at the GR80. The yoko is in between.

try the new michelin precedas. The latest reviews rave about it. But its a level or more above the gr80 or avs db. Its one level below the pilot sports but biased towards comfort with grip a closed 2nd. Price should be just a bit more exp than the db avs.

Recently changed my tyre to GR80 size 225/45R17, peviously was using Michelin Preceda. I got the GR80 for S$205/pcs at Poh Heng, think it is a good bargain.
