Car wash places to recommend

Hi all,

wondering if anyone knows of a good car wash service to recommend? Most of the old similar threads are outdated.

Looking for those that work by hand, and don't use pressure water jets. Or at least don't use it on all parts of the car - eg: not at the window seals, cos that can cause leaking for frameless windows.

Pricing info would be great too. I wish i could find a mobile groomer willing to just do shampoo and rinse weekly, and leave the drying and waxing to me. But seems like most only offer waxing packages.
Anyway, i don't mind paying a little more for quality eg: wool wash mitts, good shampoo, wash methods etc.

TIA

Re: Car wash places to recommend

the one at macpherson caltex is value for money, ask for the 12 vouchers for $40...

additional vacuum only another $4...

the mitts are wool mitts... and the car comes out pretty clean.. wheels included...

but doesn't suit you i guess since they use pressure water jets...

Re: Car wash places to recommend

The most important about a car wash is minimising scratches.. And 99% of the car wash out there are idiot enuff not to know that each time u washes a car u are scratching the car

So imho.. A good car washer is someone who promise he will minimise scratches as much as possible and not someone who deny and say that they are scratch free..

Its not all about cleanliness, for eg.. U have a stain in ur bonnet.. It sticks there..

Rub it till clean with a sponger or mitt? Or hose it down with generous water and try to get it off gently without applying pressure?

Speaking of car washer.. The only one that fits the bill is only the now closed spa for cars.. They are too meticulous hence maybe that's why they are not making money..

Forget common car wash places.. The more cars go there all the more u shud avoid....

I always wash the car myself.. People think I'm stupid or not worth the trouble.. But when I exported by previous 4 year old car.. I can tell you.. It still looked better than most 6mths old out there.. The exporter thought my car wasn't the one suppose to be exporter but when he see my mileage..it was 150k..

Oh yeah mine was jet frigging black

Re: Car wash places to recommend

Most of the time, for washes, I will DIY.

But there is one place I could trust for washes, and they have been around for a long time. They have 2 locations:

(1) SPC station along Dunearn Road, opp MOE, near Kheam Hock Road
(2) SPC station along Bukit Timah Road, just after Balmoral, besides Ferrell Residences.

Who runs it? Elite.

Who's Elite?

They were formerly at Whitley Road's Esso station, grooming exotic cars...... many old timer forumers will remember them.

Ask for wax water if you just wanna wash but wanna keep the wax after a recent grooming session.

For lipped wheels, they will use non-chemical special solution.

ken is it ok for them to spray water into the vent of our bonnet ? or you will ask them keep minimum water to enter the vent?

Thanks for the info. I think the wax water part is good because most of the time the jet gun will just remove all the wax. Then the grooming wasted.

And I hope those 2 SPCs don't use jet gun.

I think should be ok. No difference from a downpour. In the beginning I also afraid to spray water into the vents, but after doing it for a while, realised it is ok....

agree, this one quite good.

Re: Car wash places to recommend

Thanks everyone for giving helpful recommendations.

I've been diy-ing the washing for my vert since the day i got it, but i tend to run out of steam after the wash itself and don't wax it every week like i wish i did. Was thinking if i can get someone else to do the wash, i can clay n seal or wax more often. I use an electric blower and the thing is damn heavy. It's a workout in itself. My car's a jet black too, combine that with the soft top and it's clearer why i need to be careful with what tools are used.

Agreed that spa for cars was good, i base my washing technique on theirs!

Will check out the places listed here, maybe take the daily driver to try them first. Worst case, i'm getting myself a foamgun and hopefully shave some time and effort during washing...

Re: Car wash places to recommend

I go to this place called Karspa at 115 Eunos Ave 3. $10. Very very worth it.

Went to Dunearn SPC station few times, usually there are quite good but if they have more cars, can be disappointed !
