caveat Emptor-Wax job

Hi all,

I'm a new owner of E60 that i just took delivery of in recent weeks.

Bad experience to share with all. I am not one to like to post something negative, usually done thru more discreetly (like PM someone in an existing thread or something).

But this i had to say. forwarned would be the word.

It all began last week when i called my SE and asked if he has any lobang for good wax/glaze job as after taking delivery of my new ride (black), i noticed a lot of stained/wax residues on it. I didn't make too much noise as SE had been good to me all along. So i decided to go get it done outside (always better cos new car delivery these days outsourced to contractors, tough and usually lousy results-imho).

I was referred to Ah Yong from Groom works. and the tele-con was as follow:
me: "hello, ah yong? i was recommended by so-and-so from PML to look for u.
AY:" oh yes, which guy? what car u driving and model please"? (sounded pro)
me: "er...5 series black"
AY: "wow! you need diamond brite and please come over to esplanade parking"
me:"er...ok, but what's the package price?"
AY" $1,500"
me:"no discount?"
AY:" wah....you not the take care of car type" (at this point i was like wtf, just tell me ur rates).
me"price please?"
AY:"okok, for you? 15% discount"
me: " ok, let me get back to u"

thereafter, i went back, googled his site and found that he was only charging 500+++ for his top end package....wah liew....

at the end? i went to one of our local site sponsors and got a very good job done and paid only a fraction of what he quoted.

Later, i searched thru more? this guy apparently has a bit of issues with his business ethics and intergrity...

Brothers/Sisters....buyers beware. :)

Cheerio!
Bonsoir:)

what an SE you got there!

Re: caveat Emptor-Wax job

Um, $500 bucks package is for Zaino. Diamond Brite is more expensive - should be about $1k when I signed up but then, i've been using GW for almost 3 years now - with 5 cars having gone through their packages. Yong's pretty busy most days so best is if you went down to one of their branches and spoke personally with the branch manager.

with no due respect to you, I am assuming this is for one time grooming and his quote is still kinda insane even he is the best in town !!

I may be wrong but maybe your SE is pulling a fast one to get commission and ur SE appetite is quite big. :lol2:

if i am you, i will change to other groomer as I am quite turn off by this !!

No offence taken; but I do believe that the word 'Package' implies more than a one time grooming. In this case, 5 sessions in case you are interested :lol2:

You are perhaps right bro...
but nah, my SE wn't be that dumb dumb to do that too. Cos he was in another premium marque b4 joining PML....ah yong even asked? (what name? and from which car company?) and then he said "oh ya...okok, now here's the price"(somewhat to the extent perhaps it's an unwritten code to cover ur introducer, pretty common stuff).

Anyway, i went to SS tay and he really took really good care la....even SS's whole package price is only 400 plus....or 388 for membership and 98 per visit...which is quite reasonable (it took them 5 hours to detail my car's exterior and interior) cos they needed to remove swirl marks la....

Anyway, I've just checked out groom works site, it's indeed 500 plus....but that fella too much la, i went to sgcarmart site, there were quite some negative comments too...

Anyway, u bro's be aware la...just in case u need to send ur ride for spa treament....haa...

Bonsoir, yes agree with you that SS Tay is good! He's taking care of both my cars (E60 and W204), both are black as well. Next time you go to him let me know, my office near his place can meet up with a fellow E60-er.

Re: caveat Emptor-Wax job

on la bro,
i will be visiting him in another 1 month time to follow up.... sure sure. will buzz u and meet for coffee/tea at his place or go to enterprise food court.

As for package? i think it's 140-160 per visit 4 times a year which works out to 500++

another package is sign up membership of 388 and then per visit is 98 (no limit on visits).

again, this is off verbatim hor....please don quote me ar... haaa

Anyway, I think his prices are quite reasonable considering the quality of work done, just my personal opinion of course.
