Dropped by PML & its neighbour C&C today .. rather crowded leh .. heard MB is going to increase price on mon :huhhuh:
Go see Motor Image, Kah Motor or whatever Motor here and Motor there... showroom is rather opposite. With high COE, buyers seem to be switching over to Conti instead or alot of people r getting richer, I think should be former.

COE prices up across the board

Only the rich are buying that's why conti as well as high Yen and low Euro

Re: COE prices up across the board

Becos since COE cost soooo much already, might as well top up more for the conti ride. In terms of monthly payments, just go up abit only.

Is this just theory or has the euro's drop actually meant lower prices at the showroom?

Re: COE prices up across the board

Take the OMV of the new car and multiply by 2.27. Then add the cost of COE and other freebies like service credit, 1st year road tax etc. you derive at the landed cost of the new car.

Difference between your buy price and the landed cost will be the profit of the AD.

Euro is down and generally lower import tax. But really still depends on the mark up of the AD when they sell you the car. So Jap cars or Conti cars by PI are lower in price even though OMV same as that from AD is due to lower profits by PI.

Read again. My question was whether the euro's drop has meant lower sticker prices for car buyers... the answer is no.

Re: COE prices up across the board

unless there are many buyer did this, low downpayment and super high loan
otherwise, it's the norm that drive up coe
just like hdb $100k $200k cov, 1 or 2 cases are exceptional but cases after cases reported means it's norm and there are many buyers out there

A friend of mine down payment 20k + with monthly installment around 1.2k for a VW.
He admitted that the monthly installments are his depreciation and he will never likely
to get any money back when assumming he used up full ten years. Not even scrap value.

Either COE should be paid in cash or bidding must be done through individual than leaving
it to the dealers to package everything.

I honestly don't think the COE bidding system can tahan too many individual bidders...
