Coilover "eat" tires ??

Have to change tires last weekend because the rear tires inner side was quite worn out.
When I ask the supervisor was it because of alignment, which I just did like 2 weeks ago when changed to coilover, and comment made at that time was front need to change, but 2 weeks later I discovered it was my rear that was in worst shape.
The tire shop commented that coilover will resulted in faster wear. Is this true?

Am driving a 2006 E90.

Coilover to drop car => camber changed => inner tyre wears faster

not only coliovers but if you lower your ride, there will bound to have uneven tire wear due to the negative camber on your tires. to rectify this problem, you will need to install a camber kit to adjust the degree of your camber

coilover / lower spring/use aggressive offset wheel all will more or less affect the camber and sure eat tyre.
readjust your alignment or camber kit only hlep to minimise this problem NOT SOLVE

Ok. I got the point that there will be tire wear due to coilover.
Now, can anyone advice me how much "faster" the wear will be.

Assume a normal set of 4 tires which is good for 30,000km and 2 years (because 1 year only travel 15,000km). With coilover, how long will the set last now?
Assume just normal Singapore driving, no tracking.

Wear rate of tires is subjective! some high performance tires have high wear rates, while others have slower rates of wear.

changing suspension (shocks & springs / coilovers) MUST do alignment for the whole car to bring it back as close to factory specification for the suspension geometry as possible.

Coilovers in most instance allow some play with camber and caster and toe for track purposes, one can also adjust the spring rates and damper settings. Hardcore settings allow one to run high spring rates with custom re-valved shocks for the particular car.

You also need to consider other parts to wear faster...eg bushings and mounts.

Put simply, stock specs are not neutral in camber, just in case you think you moved from zero to -2 degrees. But yes, changing to coils is worsening the wear rate of the inner tyres.

How fast? Depends on driving style and the tyres itself. You corner hard and frequent, wear out fast - but that's precisely why you want to change camber in the first place. Tyre compounds and the thread wear determines the wear rate too. No one knows what's your normal driving style and your normal route.....

given the uneven wear, usually at the inner edge....the cheapo thai made tyres probably can last 6 months.
i kena the same when i was using the bridgestone firehawk.....
after that switched to Dunlop sportmaxx, had the alightment checked again...u can swap tyres front back for more even wear n tear.
that should last you at least 1.5 years, assuming normal daily drive
no more thai tyres for me....

tyre life or mileage is determind by usage and driving style/
for most tyre generally can last up to approx 45k if you have a well maintenance program especially regulare pressure check & rotation is important.(except for some special car)
if you have any mod to your car especially suspension system it will speedup the tyre wear rate

if you have a proper (technically )mod will only enhance your performance and Safety .
so you do not need to gamble your LIFE or safety.
Just 1 typical example,
A car with stock premium quality tyre changed to bigger upsize but to a lower quality tyre just for the look only
