Collecting my ride soon

Re: Collecting my ride soon

If AD tells u no need, there's no harm to follow since under warranty, but u can still do it if you wanna feel song.

I did my 1st oil service at 1000km because my PI workshop said so. But even without that instruction, I would have also gone for oil change at about 1-2k km..

Why?.. because I read and researched alot on why its important to do first oil change quickly..

Quote, unquote "The first oil change is often a lot sooner than later ones as during break in rough edges from manufacturing will be worn off and end up in the oil"

"Metal shavings from thr manufacturing process will get into the oil and so its best to get the oil changed as fast as possible"

But its entirely up tp you. Same with regular oil servicings. You will see newbies and even lazy arses posting asking wats the recommended mileage for oil change, follow AD schedule or can do before that blah blah blah and your usual gurus here will come in give their expert advice like they r Bob the Oil Guy Phd on Engine oil. End of the day, u realise engine oil is like a lubricant for your engine and if you happy, u can change every 1k km if u want

Re: Collecting my ride soon

Product of our education system - just follow authority, even if logic prevails to do otherwise.

Where did u changed oil at 2k? PML?
Just checked with my SE and she mentioned F10 do not need to change oil at 2k, only those M series is advisable to change oil at 2k.
I did in Munich. Easy job!

Re: Collecting my ride soon

congrats bro on your new ride. Whatever you do, DO NOT let the grooming companies touch your leather seats. They will get rid of your nice original BMW car smell sooner than you can accelerate from 0-100 kmh. That was my biggest mistake. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT bother to cream your leather or polish it whatsoever. Our cars are usually parked in shelter anyway, and the leather need no protection for the first 2 years.

Re: Collecting my ride soon

I did my first oil change at 2000km, and the next one at 6000km (all this within a space of 3 months only). Not complaining at all as my servicing / labour and parts (Castrol oil) all free....

If it is free, I do not mind oil change every 1k! BTW, why at 6k?

MA Service Adviser told me that oil change due, so changed oil and oil filter.

Yes I don't too. Never because they use some cheap leather shine, that will make your interior shiny =).

If you realized, our leather comes from factory in matt condition.

when it's shiny from sweat or dirt, time to clean it with BMW original leather care.

=)

Re: Collecting my ride soon

Now slightly more than 1000 km le. So considered runned in already?

Is it ok to try top speed on NSHW yet or wait till 2k is up and whack it after changing the engine oil?

Run-in is 2K. It is RPM that matters during run-in. You should not exceed 4.5K in first 2K. You can go upto what ever speed that correspond to 4.5 k RPM in your car. In my opinion, change oil at 2K and then slowly increase the RPM and then whack it!

just collected my F10 too.. so far the only little problem i had is the radio, reception doesn't seem to be that good, a lot of distortion, but anyway can always let them check when my first servicing is due..

sometime you can have a long checklist before you reach PML, but once you see your new born baby, you may have forgetten everything.. Just enjoy your ride.. as what some bro said.. is under warranty.. Ride Safe.. Cheers..

I'm not sure whether we have the similar case. Mine is intermittent break during music play from both radio & CD/DVD. They can't resolve till today and you may want to report your case to the BT service centre as my case is handled by them. At least they know that something wrong with their new car.

I'm having the same issue as you. Car being repaired 4 times still cannot resolve. Which model are you driving? What is BT service centre?

Mine 528 too. Car collected mid June. I sent mine to Alexandra. Till date, 5 months after collection, the cumulative down time of my car is more than 2.5 months.....sigh :wtf:

PML has replaced many parts.

What they have done to your car?
