Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

i think this social media thing is an invasion of ones privacy............there is more to life than social media.

we do have a lot of keyboard warriors in the social media arena, period.

From the looks of it, the only reason why seemingly trivial things like this appear on the Straits Times is someone who know the reporters have contacted them and managed to get this published in the paper. Rich man bully the handicapped by parking in their lot and ignoring parking summons because he can afford to pay or write letter to his MP to ask for waiver - ideal good vs evil type of storyline.

err no. The reason why such stuff gets put into the ST is because it is a POS rag and doesnt have anything worthwhile to print. Ever. And that's not even talking about the quality of the journalism. Honestly more fun watching paint dry.

Hai~
Sometime i don't know why people like to take note of people driving BM ... Bm car cut lane abruptly also stomp. Park at handicap lot also stomp. Few incidents, i cut their lane, they not happy, die die must cut me back.

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

Its got nothing to do with BMWs, its our local driving culture, sad to say :)

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

I simply see his parking at the handicapped lot an offence that HDB/ town council has to deal with, like they deal with hundreds of errant drivers. Whether it is a BMW or not is irrelevant. Next, all the exposure of who he is, blah, blah, blah, is completely unnecessary and is an invasion of privacy.

Somehow, with the power of "SEARCH" and internet, there are now more vigilantes meting out their own definitions of punishments.

My solution. Stay out of FB, twitter, etc.

Pengful, for social media, i could built a Great Wall around it where only ppl gave access to could see your details.

I had google myself and there is nothing much i could find.

while I agree with kenn on needless invasion of privacy on every social incident that surfaces, in this particular case you can see the guy was playing punk and ignoring authorities' measures to correct him. He has no qualms perpetuating his mistake. Where authorities failed to curb his actions, vigilantes could. And he only stopped his antisocial actions because he was hit where it hurt most, not his wallet but his privacy. So while unorthodox, did it work? Yes it did. From this aspect, then an zhua gong?

Tats not a fair statement.

Enforcing rules/laws is the government's job, not citizens except where instances of citizen's arrest etc comes in, as a matter of exigency or the like. You mght argue thats why we pay taxes for, tats why we vote in the government for, what with their high salaries etc.

Now in instances like this fella ignoring HDB's rather useless fines, you cannot expect a citizen to go up, confront the fella without being snubbed at, and possibly getting into a fight. In the end, the citizen may end up also being charged for affray or causing hurt. The next best (and safer) way is via social media. Why would I want to physically confront tat ang kong seow and risk getting hurt? You think the residents in Bukit Purmei will help you when a fight happens? They would just take more pics and post in STOMP.

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

The relevant authority should just clamp his wheels and impose $1000 fine especially for repeat offenders and may need ammendments on the Parking Rules/Regulations.

If nothing else works just stick a Handicap Logo on a Dump truck and smash into the shinny BMW..

There is a case I know, driver my friend hubby, Kenna $1000 7 times, fight appeal still LL pay $3000 & settle. So shld just impose the highest fine. Got money also not like spend. Is painful.

The person who grant your friend's appeal is an idiot. Luckily your friend never meet the late CJ Yung Pung How....He will not only uphold the verdit but increase the fine to 7x7=49k...
