well, back in the good old days of SWOG. there was a thing called the Wagonfest... bascially a more organised gathering in a closed off carpark for a day of fun food and games.. and to show SG-reans about SWOG wagon culture.. sigh...

a get-together car wash sounds fun too...but dun think there's space for so many cars to wash together... And with so many ppl washing cars.. it'll probably rain

1. A folder with "latest known best price" of mods that members do. E.g. is somebody just changed his HU, then it could be posted in a HU Folder with details. If info is sensitive, it can be a members-only folder.

2. A 'name-tent' for cars with items that can be of interest to members. E.g. we sometimes communicate in the forum about a mod and we agree to "come and see it at the next meet". But when we are there, we don't know who is who. Eg of name tent pix is attached.

I hear the suggestions that every member supporting the forum says.
I will be most agreeable to state my prices for every product that I carry. Likewise, I will be available during meetups should anyone wants to approach me for questions and queries. Besides that, I believe it would be more comforting as well that all customers are able to put a face onto the vendor they are dealing with.

I don't have the prettiest of all faces but yea what the heck its definitely not up for sale anyways!! Hehehehe

So would I be alone in this move?

Hi folks, i m new to this community. Was reading thru some of the threads. So far, i had been impressed with the organisation and the willingness to continue to improve. I am not into this competition as i know the deadline has ended. But i do have a couple of points to add, hopefully mine 2 cents help a bit.

1. Many great points i had came across, rather than choose 1 member's to be the best, why not choose the best point from every each member and implement the idea?

2. How to benefit the members? Link up with the rest of the world, members of BMW owners from around the world. TO start, need every members who has friend/relative to join BMW-SG.com . However name might be changed to BMW-interntional or something like that to depict the scale of the website. From here, exchange ideas or products with people from around the world. THey might be able to send us products which are much cheaper from else where and vice versa. Organise tour group for local members to meet oversea members. Maybe some day can go to State and go round the NASCAR track in a M3 ? We can extend invitation to oversea members to go Sepang to "exchange pointers"

3. Start a magazine of our own. A lot of points which are mentioned can be placed in the magazine. Picture of the month contest, best deal, dealers' corner, bazaar sale, technical details, events like treasure hunt, family days,charity drive, monthly meetup.....etc etc. Circulate the magazine in singapore first. Once successful can start with other countries. Picture says a thousand words. If the magazine is placed on the shelf, it will inform the general public (including those who seldom surf) about the forum existence. Cost? get sponsors, and give them a corner in the magazine. I am sure the reputation of BMW can attract a couple of them. Can start small first with newsletter, after that magazine. How this can benefit members here? Info in magazine are all value added. Members get discount to purchase or cheap monthly subscription. As the forum is non-profit driven, any extra income can be used to subsidise members' purchase like decal/polo tee/ or even annual dinner. A copy of it can also be used as free gift to attract new members.

4. Build a committee (annual basis) who are willing to contribute by helping to connect people worldwide.

Can always start small, but aim to be BIG.

Have to say...this is indeed a great forum, will try to visit it everyday if i can.....

1) More interactive meetups and it is a good idea to have shirts that identify the admins and the seniors.

2) Genuine SMS promotion on after market products for your car as not everyone will log on to the forums everyday.

Editing to comply with contest rules:

1. Car-oriented events e.g. driving trips within Singapore (e.g. the one to Neo Tiew) or to Malaysia (e.g. the one to Cameroun Highlands), car rally etc.

2. Non car oriented events e.g. BBQs, picnics, bowling, wine-tasting, clubbing, paintball, diving, and karting etc.

3. At month-end meet-ups, marshall the cars to park in more cosy settings and closer to each other. Currently, no system. Cars parked across 2 to 3 side roads from one end to the other. Too far apart. Newbies may be intimidated.

Ok, now give me my T-shirt! Size M pls.

I dont have any technical suggestions for now, but I would like to suggest that we promote BMWs to others and make friends rather than enemies with owners of other margues. Perhaps we can exchange web links with our car forums, so other people come to know of our site n learnt abt BMWs. Also, as a suggestion, maybe we should re-accept readers who had been banned, including IS250 and Michaeltan. Let us show some open-ness, rather than shut them up for good, let them speak again after a rest period. Maybe they ve changed? Like we used to say Pay and Pay is good but sometimes we also must ask Why Pay or So Dont Pay. Forum is sometimes livelier when u have some colourful characters ard. If old ways dont change, repeat offenders can always be easily dealt with.
