Coolant level warning

Re: Coolant level warning

Common for turbo car.

It is better not to high revs your car before reaching your destination. Let you engine cools down abit before switching off the engine.
2cents.

Since on topic of coolant, any of you experienced after a long drive especially stuck in traffic jam over an hour, there is this humming noise even after engine switched off.

Did some research and some say it's the pump circulating the coolant to cool down the turbo.

Should this happen to a less than 2 month old car? Or this is a common thing for a turbo car?

My RPM was below 2000 all the way while stuck in the jam.

My worry is if I go back Malaysia and stuck at the causeway jam, after that still need to drive over 200km to my destination, will the car burst out in smoke?

Or I need to stop for a break before continuing on the journey.

Last time drive Japanese car with no turbo nothing much to worry abt......

Re: Coolant level warning

Bring along fire extinguisher. Haha

I think should not be a problem lah. Just check coolant level and engine oil before set off. I only heard of turbo cars overheat when climbing up genting.

So what are precautionary measures or driving techniques when driving up genting in our turbo cars?

Have not try with my f20. Last time a4 quattro no overheat problem. Coming down need to use paddle shift in order to use engine braking to prevent brakes overheat.

Re: Coolant level warning

Off track abit. SE suddenly msg me tat new 316 coming soon but no price info yet. Don't know whether PML will have upgrade package for current 1er or not. Also heard tat 3er sound insulation is not good?

Next year cat A COE will be interesting since 316, Merc A class coming all together.

Re: Coolant level warning

Should cost around 10k more than 118? Current c class 1.6 going for 180k right? 316 will be priced competitively.

Re: Coolant level warning

Better to go for c class if price are the same or close to each other. C class may hv better power n finishing is also better. Than again, if PML give a attractive upgrade package to current 1er owner, than it will be diff story.
